Rochester got a three-run HR from Trey Lipscomb to take the lead and two-run ground-rule double from Abimelec Ortiz to tie, but it was a wild pitch with two outs and the bases loaded that won it, 6-5 over Jacksonville. Staff ace Chandler Champlain didn’t go the requisite five for the third time in 14 starts, allowing three runs on four hits (one HR) over four and 2/3rds. He walked none and struck out one. Ortiz also singled and walked twice while Andrew Pinckney singled twice and Cayden Wallace singled to round out the Red Wings six-hit, seven-walk offense.

The Senators rallied for three in the 4th to erase a 2-1 lead and three more in the 8th to build a five-run lead that Holden Powell whittled to three for a 7-4 win. Alex Clemmey needed 72 pitches to get 12 outs, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks and striking out six. Aaron Shortridge put up two goose egges for the win, as did Seth Shuman for the hold. Ethan Petry drove in five while going 4-for-4 with a doubled and a homer while Sam Brown reached base three times on two singles and a walk to lead the Harrisburg offense. Roster moves: C Caleb Farmer reassigned from Wilmington.

Wilmington sent nine men to the plate in the 4th and had five of them score to open up a 7-2 lead that the ‘pen held, 7-4. Miguel Sime Jr. LaLooshed through 13 batters, retiring seven (six by strikeout), walking five, and allowing one hit and one run. Bryan Polanco got the benefit of the rally despite blowing a save and allowing three runs on five hits over two and a 1/3rd innings. Baron Stuart got the save with a 1-2-3 ninth including two whiffs. Jacob Walsh doubled twice and scored twice while Angel Felins singled, doubled, and scored a run to power the Blue Rocks’ offense.

The FredNats hit three solo HRs to make this closer than it really was as the Howlers took the opener, 7-5. Grant Manning dropped his third decision with four runs allowed on three hits and three walks over four-plus innings. He struck out five. Elian Soto was the batter with multiple hits as he singled twice and doubled once. Luke Dickerson also reached base three times on a homer and two walks and stole his 15th base.

In the nightcap, Hill City limited Fredericksburg to four hits and swept the doubleheader with a 4-1 win. Levi Huesman was the opener and gave up an unearnd run on a hit and two walks while striking out three. That was enough to get the “L.” The FredNats batted .500 in RISP opportunities but neither of the two hits were a home run, and only served to break up the shutout. Dashyll Tejeda had double and the only FredNats walk while Rafael Ramirez Jr. had an RBI single. Gavin Fien and Jordan Williams rounded out Fredericksburg’s hit column with a single apiece. Roster moves: RHP Owen Puk, LHP Nolan Hughes transferred from the 7-day I.L. to the 60-day I.L.
