Buffalo vs. Rochester – PPD
They pulled the plug on this one early, postponing last night’s game between Rochester and Buffalo to a doubleheader this afternoon.
Harrisburg 11 Erie 9
• Clemmey 2⅔ IP, 3H, 3R, 2ER, 2BB, 5K, BK
• Luckham (W, 1-0) 4⅔ IP, 7H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 4K, HR, 2HBP
• Wallace 3-4, 3R, BB, 2B, 2RBI, SB
• Pichardo 2-3, 2R, HR, 3BB, 3RBI, 2SB, E
• Petersen 1-3, R, 2BB, HR, 3RBI
After about 75 minutes, officials opted to play a single game today and pushed yesterday’s twinbill to today. The decision proved to be prudent as the two teams combined for 20 runs, 27 hits, and six errors with the Senators eking out an 11-9 win. Alex Clemmey is still riding the struggle bus as he was lifted with three runs let in with two out in the 3rd and 65 pitches thrown. Kyle Luckam, the would-be starter for the second game, was awarded the win despite the Morris-esque line of four runs on seven hits, two walks, and two hit batsmen over four and 2/3rds inning. Cayden Wallace led the 14-hit parade with two singles, a double, and a walk while Same Petersen and Kervin (not a typo) Pichardo both homered. Jack Rogers was the beer man as the 27-y.o. fell one whiff short of a Sam Horn with five K’s and in 5AB.
Hub City 11 Wilmington 7
• Maddox (L, 1-1) 4IP, 6H, 6R, 6ER, 2BB, 6K, HR, BK, HBP
• Boucher 4BF, 0H, 4R, 4ER, 4BB, 0K
• Amaral 2IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB, 1K, 3-3 IR-S
• Banks 3-4, 2R, 3B, 2RBI
• White 3-5, 2R, RBI
• Petry 2-5, 2B, RBI
Hub City sent ten men to the plate in the 1st and plated six of them as they outslugged Wilmington, 11-7. Riley Maddox gave up those six runs but gutted out four innings with six hits, two walks, and six strikeouts in the loss. A dishonorable mention to Adam Boucher as he walked four consecutive batters before he was lifted for Austin Amaral who let all three inherited runners to score. Teo Banks singled twice and tripled while T.J. White had three safeties and scored twice to lead the Blue Rocks offense. Roster moves: RHP Austin Amaral reassigned from Harrisburg.
Fredericksburg 8 Delmarva 2
• Meckley (W, 1-0) 5IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 5K, 3WP
• Hughes (H, 1) 3IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 7K
• R. Cruz 3-4, R, 2SB(10), CS
• Cabrera 2-4, 2R, 2B, HR, 2RBI, SB
• Walsh 2-3, BB, 2B, RBI
The FredNats trailed for just one inning before administering another paternity test to Shorebirds pitchers in an 8-2 spanking. Xander Meckley got the start and spun five innings of one-run ball on two hits and two walks while striking out five. “Nuke” Hughes did not issue a walk for the first time in his pro career and struck out seven over the next three frames to earn the hold. Ronny Cruz scored once, stole twice, and singled thrice while Yeremy Cabrera doubled, homered, and drove in two to power the FredNats attack. Roster moves: SS Gavin Fien placed on the 7-Day I.L.; OF Jordan Williams reassigned from the FCL.
surprised to see Clemmey only get one pitch above 93 mph, a feat Luckham topped in his outing.
ruh roh
