AFL Update: Oct. 19, 2025
The Scorpions in four of six “ups” as they needled the Saguaros, 11-4 for their third straight win.
Seaver King was majestic yet again, driving in four with a two-run single in the 4th and a two-run HR in the 5th. He played shortstop and had three assists, including a 6B-3 DP.
Ethan Petry started in left field and went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored while striking out twice. Defensively, he fielded to two hits and took part in a 7-4 double play to end the second inning.
Pablo Aldonis was credited with the win while giving up a run on a hit and a walk in the first of his two innings of work. He struck out as many as you did.
Scottsdale (6-3) remains home to host Surprise (5-3). Jake Bennett is expected to start for the Scorpions.
In 45 games at Wilmington, King had 17 RBI. In seven games in suburban Phoenix he has 15. King in the desert: .419/.486/.774/1.260. More of this, please.
On the flip side, Petry is really struggling: .174/.321/.174 with 12 Ks in 7 games.
Bennett struggled in his first outing, was much better in his second. Hope he can continue to show improvement.
Keep it up King! Two HR in 7 games, when he’d hit 2 HR in his previous 72 games in Harrisburg!
He wouldn’t be the first to be an offensive mirage out in the desert (looking at you, Hassell, Cluff, et. al), but this objectively a good thing, especially to get more eyes on the player King was meant to be!
I’m also pleasantly surprised with how much game time King is getting. He’s got by far the most playing time on the team (35 PA, next player, McGonigle, has 29, then interestingly next is Petry with 28). That’s huge, especially with the glut of SS’s on the team.
