AFL Update: Oct. 17, 2025
Scottsdale erased a 3-0 deficit with a five-run 5th and the Scorpions bullpen took care of the rest for a 5-3 win over Glendale.
Sam Petersen got the rally started the hard way (pictured) as he was hit by a pitch and had to leave the game. No word on the severoty of the injury (last night’s stream has not yet been posted to the AFL archives).
Prior to the plunking, Petersen had been the sole National to appear in the Scottsdale starting lineup. He drew a walk in the 2nd and stole second base in his first plate appearance. Defensively, he had one putout and one throwing error while fielding two singles.
Ethan Petry pinch-ran for Petersen and scored the first Scorpions run. He subsequently struck out twice and fielded a single in the final four innings.
Scottsdale (4-3) visits Mesa (2-5) tonight.
Petry has had a poor start. 9 K in 20 PA in the batter friendly AFL, and only 2 singles. Hope things click soon.
