Rochester blew leads of 7-0, 10-8, and 11-9 before falling to Memhpis, 12-11. Bryce Conley was knocked out with one out in the 5th after five runs allowed on four hits (one HR) and two walks. He struck out three. Julian Fernández got the last out of the seventh to get credit for a hold but gave up three hits in 8th, all of which came around to score “thanks” to Ryan Loutos’s wild-pitching in one run and giving up the game-winner on a double. Francisco Mejía drove in five with an Earl Weaver special, an RBI single, and an RBI double to lead the Red Wings’ 14-hit parade.
Harrisburg 6 Chesapeake 3
• Bennett (W, 1-2) 5IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 3K

The Senators doubled up the BaySox, 6-3, to stop an eight-game slide. Jake Bennett won his first AA contest with five scoreless innings, three hits, no walks, and three strikeouts. Samuel Vasquez stranded two while getting the last out if the 8th and pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to earn the save. Cayden Wallace led the Harrisburg hit column with three singles while Carlos De La Cruz drove in two with a double and went 2-for-5 to lead the Sens offense.
Aberdeen 3 Wilmington 1
• Gray 1⅓ IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, 1K, HBP
• Da. Garcia (BS, 1; L, 1-4) 4IP, 7H, 2R, 1ER, 0BB, 4K, HBP
• McKenzie 2-4, R, SB
• De La Rosa 0-2, BB, SB
Make that 72 games in which Wilmington was unable to score a third run as Aberdeen handed them a 3-1 defeat in the series finale. Josiah Gray made the rehab and threw 34 pitches, 18 for strikes while retiring four batters, walking two, and hitting one. Davian Garcia was charged with the blown-save-loss as he let in two runs (one earned) on seven hits and a Robles. He struck out four. Jared McKenzie singled twice, scored once, and stole a base. The rest of the lineup was hitless with two walks and eight whiffs. Roster moves: RHP Josiah Gray assigned from Washington for MLB Rehab.
Carolina 6 Fredericksburg 3
• B. Romero (L, 2-6) 4IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, 4BB, 0K
• Fischer 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• A. Feliz 2-2, R, 2BB, SB(5)
• Mota 2-3, R, SB(25)
The Mudcats scored three in the 6th to break open a 3-2 game and held on for a 6-3 win over the FredNats in the series finale. Brayan Romero was hooked for three runs on four hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out none. Angel Feliz reached base four times on two walks and two singles while Jorgelys Mota went 2-for-3 with a run scored to pace the FredNats attack.
Could Angel Feliz be our most talented infielder in Fredericksburg at the moment?
After starting really slowly after the end of the FCL, he’s now hitting .349/.423/.558 over his past 15 games, with more walks (7) than strikeouts (6). On the whole, he’s had a good season across the FCL and A, hitting .253/.346/.362, aided by the fact he’s still only 18 years old. Really, really encouraging to finally produce a legitimate prospect from the DSL, after a bunch of years of futility.
Another very solid outing from Bennett. He hasn’t been blowing batters away, but continues to post good results. After a disastrous year injury wise from our pitchers, it’s good to see one seemingly picking up where he left off. Let’s hope Josiah Gray doesn’t pick up where he left off, but rather re-discovers the stuff that made him a top 100 prospect pre-trade. I didn’t really think there was much of a future for him with the club, but with Irvin and Parker’s self-destruction, Herz, Williams, Sykora, Susana and Stuart’s injuries, the rotation is suddenly wide open for the foreseeable future.
Anyone surprised that Travis 7 days a week Sthele is not bumped up to become Senator Sthele ??
