Rochester Red Wings, 27-37, 8th I.L. East, 16GB – 54-81 Overall
The Red Wings return to upstate New York for their final homestand against the Bisons after taking two of six in Memphis. Yesterday, the Nats did their annual bump-up with Donta’ Williams finishing his season in Harrisburg and Phillip Glasser moving up to Rochester.
Harrisburg Senators, 31-32, T4th E.L. Southwest, 7GB – 65-67 Overall
Harrisburg played its way out of a playoff spot with an eight-game losing streak that ended on Sunday. This week, the Senators play out the string with six against the RubberDucks in a battle for sole possession of 4th place of the E.L. Southwest in the second half.
Fredericksburg Nationals – 35-29, 3GA (2nd Half Champions); 65-64 Overall, 5GB
The FredNats won the second half with some help from the Salem Sox, who beat the Woodpeckers four times in the last six games. That reportedly earned the Salem players and front office some pizza from the FredNats Booster Club. Tonight, Fredericksburg will host Lynchburg in Game One of the CLDS.
The Hillcats won 14 of 21 games between the two teams, including four of seven in late August. The best-of-three matchup will start in Fredericksburg and conclude in Lynchburg. FWIW, tonight’s starters matched up two weeks ago, with Lynchburg shutting out Fredericksburg, 7-0 on one hit and 15 strikeouts, 11 by NASCAR-named Joey Oakie.
