Rochester Red Wings, 20-25, T7th I.L. East, 12GB – 47-70 Overall
Rochester took four of six to pull into a tie for 7th place for the second half but still remain tied for the fewest wins overall in AAA. This week, the Red Wings host the Mud Hens for six with a matinee on Thursday.
Harrisburg Senators, 24-20, 2nd E.L. Southwest, 1½GB – 58-55 Overall
The Senators took all six from the Yard Goats for what appears to be the first six-game sweep by Harrisburg since the week-at-a-time system began in 2021. This week it’s seven in Erie with a twinbill tomorrow to make up a rainout from last month.
Wilmington Blue Rocks, 20-28, T5th Sally Lg. North, 14GB – 50-63 Overall
Wilmington split with Jersey Shore. The Blue Rocks head out on the road for the final time this week and next, beginning with the Dash for six night games.
Fredericksburg Nationals, 24-19, 2nd C.L. North, 1GB – 54-54 Overall
The FredNats took four of six from the Red Sox and gained 1½ games on the Mudcats. This week, Fredericksburg hosts Fayetteville for seven, including a doubleheader tomorrow.
DSL Nationals 3 DSL Giants Black 2
• Reyes (W, 5-2) 7IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 9K, HR
• Cortesia 1-2, 2R, BB, SB
• Obispo 1-2, 2RBI, SB(15)
• German 1-3, R, 2SB
In a game that featured six hits, five runs, and five stolen bases, the DSL Nationals eked past the DSL Giants Black, 3-2. Juan Reyes went the distance, allowing both runs on three hits (one HR), no walks, and nine strikeouts. Brayan Cortesia singled, walked, and scored twice while Juan Obispo drove in two to pace the D-Nats attack.
one game after the 23-1 disaster, the DNats were fortunate to have their ace on the mound. he did his part with the only blemish a homerun by the Giants #2 overall prospect.
the lefty is 20 yrs old and repeating the level so no assumptions on whether he’s a prospect but you’ve got to give him his due for this effort.
Happy trails forward , Tyler Yankowsky
37 ABs for the Aggie alum before a bump up to the Delaware Grand Canyon
The DSL Nats stole 5 more bases yesterday, bringing their total to 169, 3rd most of 52 teams in the DSL. They’re averaging over 3 SBs per game.
Marconi German leads the team with 33 SB, and 3 others have 20+ SBs and 2 with 10+.
Last year, Dashyll Tejeda led all of the DSL in SBs, so it’s not a new trend for the DSL Nats to be aggressive on the basepaths, but they’ve already nabbed 21 more bases than last year with only one game left to play.
Stolen bases aside, it’s been – relative to past seasons – a wildly successful season for the DSL Nats. German might be the DSL MVP, and Cortesia and de la Cruz have also set themselves apart as well above average players. The pitching hasn’t been as good as the bats. Reyes, the standout, ended the season really strongly with a CG.
the Sens arms will get Kevin McGonigle and Max Clark this week, number two and nine in the Top 100 of MLB Pipeline. I think the Kitties will have their hands full.
go right after them fellas!
It’s pretty damning that Rochester has the worst record in AAA despite having quite a bit of borderline MLB talent on its roster. The biggest issue has been pitching, as the Red Wings have allowed 19 more runs than the next-worst team. To be fair, basically any Rochester pitcher who could roll a ball across the plate has been summoned to the big club to be pounded like everyone else.
Pitching and defensive efforts ( AAA Achilles tendon ?)
Four years we’ve had the six pack series model ? Time flies .
Things to do this Tuesday .
