DSL Nationals 8 DSL Cardinals 5

The D-Nats bats built an 8-0 lead after four while the D-Nats bullpen managed not to blow it for an 8-5 win. Yaiker Torrelles threw five scoreles innins with two hits, two walks, and six whiffs to earn his second win. Angel Requena singled three times, Marconi German twice, and Nauris De La Cruz drove in four with a sac fly and a bases-clearing double that highlighted the DSL Nationals’ seven-run 4th inning.
if you’ve watched the Nats go up against Jeffrey Springs and Carson Whisenhunt then I think that’s the model for Bennett. continue to work on that change-up and slider. Jake throws strikes better than both of them in the minors, I think he can be a good 3-5 starter on a contender.
Reading the write-up on the Nats’ game from last night (I know, I know, this is the farm), and seeing 2 mins of highlights – Lord looked very good! 4 pitches; movement on all of them, brought it in the mid-90’s (I think I saw up to 97) – and not scored upon until a solo homer from one of the best players in the game (when his head’s in the game) with 2 out in the 5th.
Is this a triumph for scouting, or is he showing “stuff” now that he wasn’t showing 2 years ago?
always hard to pinpoint improvements on coaching vs individual hard work but Lord definitely increased his velocity. he’s always had the demeanor IMO. his success as a starter is surprising to me but even if he settles into a long man reliever role it will be a fantastic result
See? Saturday Sthele back to weekend wackiness versus the week
Kudos to Alvarez to work through the struggles hitting 105 Ip
Conley has been a nice addition to farm eating up 84 IP AAA/AA. In a season of TJ injuries and bullpens getting heavily used at every level
