Syracuse vs. Rochester – PPD
Rain washed away Game Three (pictured) of the series between Syracuse and Rochester. They’ll make it up with a doubleheader on Saturday. Roster moves: C C.J. Stubbs reassigned from Harrisburg.
Akron 5 Harrisburg 4 (7 inn.)
• Thompson 1IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 0K
• Luckham (L, 4-3) 4IP, 6H, 4R, 4ER, 1BB, 5K, HR
• Stehly 1-3, R, RBI
• Naranjo 1-2, BB
• Glasser 1-4, 2B(10)
After afflicting their fans with a 147-minute rain delay, the RubberDucks rewarded those who stuck around with a 5-4 win in shortened-by-rule seven innings. Mason Thompson warmed up the Akron bats with a first-inning BP for one run on three hits with no walks and no strikeouts. Kyle Luckham came on and went the next four, giving up four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five. He was tagged with the loss, his third. The Senators squeezed four runs from five hits and five walks, but went 0-for-5 with RISP and left four runners on base. Roster moves: RHP Travis Sykora promoted from Wilmington; LHP Dustin Saenz reassigned from Rochester; C Matt Suggs reassigned from Wilmington.
Hudson Valley 0 Wilmington 0 – SUSP.
• Bennett 4IP, 4H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Lawson 1-2
• Cruz 1-1
The game got started in Wilmington but was halted with 0-0 tie after four innnings. After waiting 91 minutes, they sent the players and fans packing. It’ll be completed this afternoon—weather permitting—followed by a seven-inning game. Roster moves: OF Jared McKenzie demoted from Harrisburg.
Kannapolis 7 Fredericksburg 3 (11 inn.)
• D. Garcia 5IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, 5K
• Minckler (L, 2-5) ⅔ IP, 2H, 4R, 3ER, 3BB, 1K, HBP, WP
• Barbieri 1-3, R, BB, RBI, SB(5)
• K. Diaz 1-2, BB, 2CS
A pitcher’s duel in regulation quickly turned into a battle of who could play worse, with the FredNats “winning” by handing the Cannon Ballers a 7-3 win in 11 innings. The loss went to Ryan Minckler, who retired two of eight batters while allowing three free runner and three of his own on two hits, three walks, and a Robles. Fredericksburg starter Davian Garcia tossed five no-hit innings, issuing two walks, fanning four, and catching one looking. The FredNats singled four times but just once in 11 RISP chances as they were unable to make Kannapolis pitchers pay for issuing seven walks. Roster moves: CF Enmanuel Ramirez placed on the 7-day I.L.
FCL Nationals vs. FCL Astros – PPD
Rain claimed the game between the FCL Nationals and the FCL Astros. They’ll make it up today when the two teams play again.
DSL Nationals 9 DSL Mets Blue 1
• Reyes 3IP, 3H, 0R, 1BB, 4K
• Ju. Lopez (W, 2-0) 4IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 7K, HR
• Marmolejos 2-3, R, BB, 2B, RBI
• Bello 2-4, 2B, RBI
• Obispo 1-2, 2B, 2RBI
In the continuation of the June 16 game, the D-Nats tacked on two more runs to go up 9-0 but lost the shutout on a homer in the 7th for a 9-1 win. Juan Lopez finished the game with one run, two hits, and three walks while striking out a career-high of seven. The DSL Nationals got nine runs from nine hits, eight walks, and seven stolen bases, with Eddie Marmolejos leading the charge with a walk, single, and a double.
DSL Mets Blue 7 DSL Nationals 3
• J. Robles 3IP, 4H, 3R, 2ER, 2BB, 6K
• Carela (L, 0-1) 2IP, 2H, 2R, 1ER, 1BB, 1K
• Marmolejos 2-3, 2R, 2-2B
• Garces 1-2, R, BB, HR, RBI
The DSL Nationals posted a picket fence in the middle innings but the DSL Mets Blue had three two-spots to take the “aftercap,” 7-3. Jean Robles was lifted after three runs on four hits and two walks. He dodged the decision while striking out six. Enmanuel Carela took the loss after giving up two runs over two innings on two hits and a walk. Eddie Marmolejos doubled twice and scored twice while Jonierbis Garces homered to lead the D-Nats attack.
Good to see Bennett work his way back. Whatever it was that kept him out for over a month doesn’t seem to have had much of an impact, as he’s now up to 9 consecutive scoreless innings since returning. Going 2, then 3 and now 4 IP (and 54 pitches).
Bennett has been injured for so long it’s hard to remember that Wilmington is the highest level he’s ever pitched at. So while he’s still rehabbing, will they also push him up to Harrisburg after a couple more 5 IP starts like they did with Sykora?
solid outing for Bennett, 92-94 on his FB and hitting his spots with all pitches. 54 pitches, 41 strikes and no loud contact.
Always an event when a kid hits a tater in DSL
Comfy morning in Harrisburg
Sykora could run off on guys like Choi
Senators moving forward in second half .
Delino , Sr grinning
Two outfielders coming back from DL
Choi finding his rhythm
Of course the Round Rock on City Isle
Bennett soon to continue his rehab out of witness protection .
Maybe a few more pieces for the roster

Friday familiarity
Griffin Herring LSU faced
Dugas LSU
And Teo tater Banks Tulane .
Really strong outing from Davian Garcia, who shouldn’t be overlooked as a 6th round pick who commanded overslot money.
He had a slow start to his pro career, but over his past 6 starts, he’s got a stellar 1.39 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 32 K, 16 BB (something to keep an eye on) in 32.1 IP.
As a well-regarded college arm, think he’s earned a shot at A+ ball. Speaking of which, what is Cranz STILL doing in Fredericksburg? He recently broke his 18 inning scoreless streak, but still has excellent numbers (2.12 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 40 K in 29.2 IP) and at 22 is old for the level. And while you’re at it get Beeker out of there too!
Putting up some leaders for Friday…
Who had Murphy Staley doing this? Too bad he is 26 years old. Interesting to see Made and Max Romero here. Dickerson went down to 722 so is off the list.
Let’s hope the Feliz boys keep it up.

Kind of depressing that only 2-3 players have an OPS above .800
Very depressing. One of the two, Stehly is super-old for his level, and a fringe prospect at best. Outside of Sykora, disappointing season for the Nats at the MLB level and on the farm.
well the above list excludes House and Lile and Sir Jamison Jones with 103 PA sits at .816.
keep your chin up

Daddy Delino wishing JDL and Williams return sometime soon..
Stehly’s OPS just at AA is .964. His start there seemed fluky, but he’s had 30 games now and 119 PAs, and his hyper-inflated BABIP luck is down to an excellent but not-outrageous .378. After a slight cooling he’s had five hits in the last four games. The dude was a $10K senior signee, just doing it for the love of the game. Hell yeah I’m cheering him on.
Stehly is one of those examples of how it’s very hard to figure out whose college stats will translate to the pros. He had terrific numbers at U of Texas as a senior. But so few college guys actually replicate those numbers.
He not only turns 27 in September, he’s Rule 5 eligible this fall, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that they push him on to AAA in a few weeks, just to see if his run isn’t a fluke.
