Offseason Update: Oct. 26, 2022
It’s an off day for the Javelinas today and a road game tomorrow so they won’t play in Peoria until Friday and Saturday. Lee provided me with photos to fill the gaps, and, like my mother’s cookies and pies, you don’t say no to that. That’s coach Micah Franklin reminding us of Roy Campanella (“You gotta be a man to play baseball for a living, but you gotta have a lot of little boy in you, too.”)
In the meantime, here are a couple of items of interest to pass along…
ROCHESTER SEALS DEAL FOR NAMING RIGHTS
While I’ll still refer to either the original name or its neighborhood, Rochester joined the ‘Burgs in having its stadium renamed after a sponsor.
This is a good example of the benefits of the 10-year affiliation agreements that MLB forced its franchisees into in 2021. Benefits for whom? Why the owners of course! What? You thought this was primarily for the fans?!?!
There is a small benefit: so long as a team is profitable, the likelihood of its relocation decreases. Granted, as noted in the hyperlinked presser, Rochester has been home to pro baseball since the 19th century, but tradition never speaks quite the way money does…
A BOOKMARKABLE LINK FROM BA
I’m a little surprised my various plug-ins didn’t flag “bookmarkable,” which is a reference to the first entry in the Baseball America Scouting Dictionary. Hopefully, most of these will be familiar to longtime readers. For the newbies, I’ve got you covered right here for this site’s lingo.

Happy you featured Micah on the off day. He’s been about the easiest guy to be around every day and has had baseball people and fans visiting before almost every game.
Gotta love the eagle eye which captures the simple moments in the game of baseball
Bubble gum. Yeah
Booking.yeah lol
Milllas shot could be on a card
Something , Lee, we don’t see much of anymore is the collaboration of farm club affiliates co- opping with local business to roll out a team card set for kids and fans who collect swag .
Your photos would be great for AA or A club sets .
Mark Z on masn made a comment about adding power to the lineup .
Somebody on another blog mentioned a one year rental of Conforto
Any other bats on the market make sense ??
