AFL Update: Oct. 23, 2022
The Javelinas reverted to the mean and dropped their eighth game over the last 10 by a score of 3-0.
Tim Cate (pictured above) actually made it out of the 1st… and finished both the 2nd and the 3rd innings. He gave up a run on three hits, no walks, and struck out two. The 25-y.o. Connecticut native threw 36 pitches, 24 for strikes.
Will Frizzell (guy with bat) was the designated hitter for Peoria but went 0-for-3 with a strikeout to lower his Fall BA to .286 (4-for-14) in his fourth game.
The Javelinas return home to Peoria tomorrow afternoon to host the Surprise Saguaros.
Are Baker and Antuna injured? Baker last played 11 days ago (even Frizzell has gotten 2 starts in that span!), and Antuna last played on the 18th (5 games ago), when he’d previously been playing every 2nd or 3rd game in the first week or so of the league.
Batboy jokes aside, I hope Baker gets some time off to be around his dad for the World Series that Dusty might actually, finally win. It’s hard to pull for the Trashstros, . . . but not so hard if they’re playing the Evil Horde from up I-95.
Great photos Lee.
