Watchlist Reports Are Finished

February 16, 2022

Just a quick note to let you know the lights are still on I’ve made my sweep, and as predicted, made just a few small tweaks.

The donuts have been made. And now we wait Forrest Gump pause again.

This could be particularly painful because what gets us through the last six weeks of winter is spring training, and it’s just been officially delayed.

Given MLB’s Stalin-esque treatment thus far – the MiLB transaction pages are still “down for scheduled maintenance – I don’t have much hope for much coverage of the minor-leaguers in March, but I hope I’m wrong.

Re Lile and his questionable power, the Nats are certainly working on bulking him up:

The Watchlist photo for T. J. White is a “wow,” though, for a kid who had just turned 18 at the time of the FCL. Hope we’re seeing White, Lile, and House (among others) in Fredericksburg this year.

Haven’t heard anything about the Nats but read the Pirates minor leaguers are mostly all in camp already.

Apparently Jacob Young is so unmemorable that you didn’t realize that you wrote about him twice, under OF and Notable Bats. Young was primarily a 2B his first season at U of FLA but then exclusively OF thereafter. One wonders whether the Nats will develop him as a “super utility” player from early on. He showed good gap power (16 doubles) in his draft year in college, with six more two-baggers at Fburg.

No, I have a terrible copyeditor. But it’s now fixed (notable bat only).

The Nats do have a fetish for creating super-subs but they rarely last more than a season or two. This reminds me that I need to get my August 2021 road trip in… https://twitter.com/nats_prospects/status/1424146236786057216?s=20&t=UzC8r62d1faPa46h2qQPxA

Some of the Nat farm teams would have had a hard time fielding a full nine over recent years without multi-position guys like Sagdal, Noll, Davidson, and Masters. This became particularly true after a couple of generations of Latin infielders hit a wall at A+. Where have you gone, Osvaldo Abreu? Nats Nations turns its lonely eyes to you. (Hard to believe that he’s still only 27!)

Isn’t this the part where we get a picture of your copyeditor?

This week’s 60-something-degree tease notwithstanding (chance of snow on Thursday), he’s waiting for spring like the rest of us

Boomer looks like he hasn’t missed many meals. Or is this just a bulldogs body.

            Both.
