Ok I stand corrected ! Dave Martinez should be the next manager. Would love to see him bring over ex teammate MTL, Tim Wallach as bench coach or hitting coach . Pete Vuckovich next pitching coach ??
Randy Knorr said to be in line to manage Syracuse in 2018.
Victor who? Haven’t heard about this kid. Maybe he might turn into something . . .
It sure has turned into a long season for Robles, with a lot of stops. Honestly, I’m not sure what he has left to prove in AZ after posting several examples of solid contact off MLB pitching. He still needs some fundamentals polishing, but you would think that with the AFL winding down that they’ve moved along from a lot of the drills. So is he there for fundamentals, a few extra ABs against AA-level pitching, . . . or some showcasing? His trade value this offseason may be as high as it’s ever going to be.
Never trade this kid not even for McCutcheon in Pitt
Any buzz on other farm manager seats ?
I think the word about Knorr surfaced in response to some conjecture that he might be in the running for Dusty’s job. A couple of the beat writers reported it.
As for Robles, the Nats have turned down a lot of offers for him over the last couple of years. If he can be the main piece to bring three-plus years of control of an All-Star, though, they have to listen. I don’t think they’ll be actively shopping him, but they won’t stop listening. As I said, his value is probably as high as it’s ever going to be.
Maybe Nats go one year with somebody then Knorr manages post Harper/ Murphy young Nats.
Feels to me like a fail-safe move… if they can’t get an external candidate, they’ll “promote” Knorr to the MLB job.
Never mind that Knorr should have been given the job in 2015; he only had a few hundred more games of actual managerial experience.
