Keith Law wrote the other day on prospects who could have a big impact this year with their clubs and there were some very familiar names.
Steven Souza, Nathan Karns & Alex Meyer were all in the top 12 of that list.
He also said that if it was a fair fight he thought Michael Taylor might beat out Denard Span for starting CF’er.
Not that it will be a fair fight.
Looks like Eury Perez has a decent chance to win the Braves’ starting CF job as well. Says more about the Braves than Perez, but I wish him well.
Wow, Span is a guy who gets a lot of dissing from fans. I am cautiously optimistic about Taylor, sure. But he has played 29 games above AA. And only 98 at AA. To say ST results should vault him ahead of a guy who has put up 10.8 rWAR (10.7 fWAR) over the past three seasons, and was right at that pace last season at the age of 30, is really stretching.
Agreed. Span is coming off his best season, while Taylor struck out in 17 of 43 MLB plate appearances. This is not at all to say that the future isn’t bright for Taylor. In fact, he may be the best option for the big club if Werth isn’t ready for opening day. But it wouldn’t make a lot of sense for him to replace Span right now.
Thanks for the watch list Luke. A good go to source of information.
Luke, just wanted to echo the thanks for making the effort to continue to do the Watchlist. It is quite a resource for following the Nats’ system.
Like you, I’m very curious to see what the Nats will do with the middle infielders. The assumption is that Harrisburg will be Perez (SS) and Renda (2B) and Potomac will be Difo (SS) and Bostick (2B). Then Turner will parachute into the middle of all of that in June. But there are a lot of variables. Do they see Difo more as a 2B than a SS? Do they push Difo ahead of Renda? Do they push Bostick ahead of Renda, since both basically “passed” the Carolina League last year? Or could they jump Renda to Syracuse to leave room for some of these other moves? Does Bostick have any potential at SS? He’s mostly played 2B, but one would figure that the Rangers weren’t looking for SS help at the MLB level anyway.
It’s good to see some options on the horizon at these positions. It will be interesting to see how the deck is shuffled.
Luke, would you photoshop johnny Carson picture as the great swami predictor ?
Bostick. Pure 2 b. So much mix and match. Remember Cody Dent can play 3 infield
Positions for either AA or A plus.
Luke you mentioned the ??? Marks around Martinson and Hague heading to april
As the infield phalanx move up from each level. How does Stewart and Lisson land above
The AAand Aplus levels.
Should be fun to see who advances or repeats levels come april
Unfortunately, what nobody likes to think about is who’s going to be released. We’ll read about some of them later this month, be told or hear that others were sent to XST, but there always seems to be a group of organizational guys that just fade away. Springfield Fan does her best to find out, but my personal rule of thumb is that if I don’t see the types in transactions by the end of April, I presume they’ve been released.
Luke, you got another thing coming since you wrote off this posting
With until the next snow or sleeting
XST came to mind with many of the auburn
Depth guys especially since the GCL Barrett
Boys of special interest may command Hagerstown
Folgers in a cup time.
Inclement weather leads to mass postings .
Luke, yes Martinson and or Hague may get
Pink slip …. Miller time may not soak into
Harrisburg. EstArlin ‘s lack of power is a concern
