Rochester battled back from an early 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead but the ‘pen faltered late, giving up one in the 8th and two in the 9th for a 5-3 loss in the series finale. Chandler Champlain went the first five and allowed the aforementioned two runs on three hits and a walk. He struck out four. Jack Sinclair faced three batters in the 8th and put them all on base, allowing the tying run to “earn” his fourth blown save. Gus Varland retired one of six batters in the 9th and let in two runs on three hits and two walks to take the loss. Joey Wiemer singled twice and drove in a run while Abimelec Ortiz hit his 16th HR to lead the Red Wings offense. Roster moves: RHP Eddie Yean added to Washington 40-man roster, recalled to Washington; OF Robert Hassell designated for assignment.

Harrisburg rallied for single runs in the 6th and 7th and three in 8th to turn a 5-1 deficit into a 6-5 win in the series finale. Josh Randall gave up all five Richmond runs on seven hits, including two homers, over five innings. He walked one and struck out four. Jared Simpson and Kyle Luckham tossed two scoreless innings apiece, with Luckham earning his fifth win. Sam Petersen singled, walked, and homered while Chad Lomavita doubled, homered, and drove in two to lead the Senators offense.

The Blue Rocks ran wild on the bases (eight steals) and got the benefit of six walks and four errors, taking a 6-4 lead into the bottom of the 9th. Alas, Euri Montero was not up to the task of holding a two-run lead, instead serving up an Earl Weaver Special to get walked off, 7-6. Miguel Sime Jr. was knocked from the box after two runs on two hits and four walks over two innings and 49 pitches. Teo Banks reached base four times on two walks and two singles, a feat matched by Jacob Walsh and Angel Feliz. Nate Rombach had the sole extra-base hit of the ten by Wilmington.

Fredericksburg was shut out for the second time this season, 3-0 on one hit and split the series with Columbia. Liam Sullivan reverted to the mean with all three Fireflies runs allowed on one hit and four walks over three innings. Branden Boissiere broke up the perfect game with single to lead off the 5th. It was the sole hit for the FredNats, who drew three walks and were hit by pitches twice.
FCL Nationals, 22-20, 2nd FCL East, 9½ GB
The F-Nats fell another game off the pace of the F-Astros but are still four games ahead of the F-Mets… not that anyone cares. This week it’s four road games, three of which will be played outside of West Palm Beach with an off day tomorrow and a home game on Friday.
DSL Nationals, 5-18, 7th DSL South, 12½ GB
The DSL Nationals are on (yet another) losing streak and are comfortably in the DSL South cellar but still only a 1/2 game ahead of the 5-19 DSL Padres for the worst record in the league. This week, the D-Nats have home games Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, an off day tomorrow, and road games on Thursday and Friday.

Certainly not on any playoff team. He’s neither good enough defensively to be a defensive substitute, fast enough to be a pinch runner, or good enough of a hitter to be a pinch hitter.
Crazy that at the time, Hassell was hyped as one of the most valuable pieces of the Soto trade, when he’s turned out to be as valuable as Luke Voit.

I really saw Hassell as a better prospect than Lile but his inability to hit lefties going back to his promotion to A+ has held him back. I expect him to return cash considerations from a team jumping the waiver wire order and will wish him well.
now Lile has not really lit it up this year in that department either but they seem to have made the commitment to him to hopefully improve.
Hassell never developed his power. Not sure if it was related to his wrist injury a few years ago, but in 258 AAA plate appearance this year, Hassell slugged .289. That is atrocious, even for an elite defensive player at a premium postion, and even accepting Hassell may have been above average defensively, no player can survive with that lack of power as an OF. Maybe another organization can “turn the light on” for Hassell, but he was heading in the wrong direction with the Nats.

Sime and Clemmey really seem to be the same profile of pitcher. Electric HS arms putting up solid numbers while being wildly young for their level, but both have atrocious control. Its a lot like Jarlin Susana 3 years ago.
There being one very big difference, Sime sits at 100, while Clemmey’s fastball is low 90s.
They’re both extremely young and have a lot more runway, but at the worst look like electric relievers in the future. As we can all see, even panning out as “just” a reliever is still incredibly valuable.
