A late Storm surge turned a 2-0 Red Wings lead into a 4-3, ending a six-game win streak. Chandler Champlain went five full innings, allowing no runs, two hits, one walk, and confusing his fellow pitchers (“You can pitch more than one or two innings?”). Yovanny Cruz gave up the first run in the 7th on a homer while Cole Henry coughed up the final three on an Earl Weaver special in the 8th for the blown-save-loss. Trey Lipscomb singled twice to extend his hit streak to 17 games and push his August line to .357/.372/.702. Seaver King reached base three times on a single and three walks. Roster moves: C Kyle Hayes activated from Development List; RHP Wyatt Mills placed on 7-day I.L.

Harrisburg blew an early 5-0 lead but got on in the 6th to tie and two in the 8th to win, 8-7. Jack Cebert no-hit Akron for two innings but walked four and let in two runs. Isaac Lyon went the next four and gave up five runs on six hits, including two homers. He struck out four and walked one, getting the win as the pitcher of record when Sens went ahead and “earning” the blown save. Robert Cranz worked a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his second AA save and first since May 14. Kervin Pichardo singled, doubled, homered, and scored three runs while Nick Mitchell also went 3-for-5 with two RBI to lead the Harrisburg offense.

The Blue Rocks were no-hit for six innings until Luke Dickerson led off the 7th with a double. Two batters later Jacob Walsh sent him home with Wilmington’s second and final hit for a 1-0 walkoff win. Miguel Sime Jr. walked four, struck out six, and allowed two singles over three shutout innings. Eriq Swan (1IP), Austin Amaral (2IP), and Jacob Roberts combine to lock down the Keys with Roberts getting the “W.”

Wilmington got a two-run single from Jacob Walsh in the 4th and enough pitching to make it stand up, 2-1 to sweep the doubleheader. Jarlin Susana didn’t strike out two of nine batters faced, allowing a hit and a flyout. Eiker Huizi finished the 3rd and pitched a scoreless 4th, which was good enough to get him the win. Baron Stuart came on with the bases loaded and nobody out in the 6th and lost shutout but held the lead as he closed out the game to get his third save. Yeremy Cabrera led the Blue Rocks hit column with a single and a double while Luke Dickerson drew his org-leading 96th walk (yes, really).

The FredNats rallied for three in the 7th to break a 3-3 deadlock and held on to defuse the Cannon Ballers, 6-3. R.J. Sales ave up all three Kannapolis runs on two hits and two walks over two and 2/3rds. He struck out two. Noah Millikan bent (two hits, one walk) but did not break, which got him his second A- win while Adam Boucher got the last four outs, walking two and stranding one runner. Sir Jamison Jones singled three times while Rafael Ramirez Jr. and Coy James both had two safeties as Fredericksburg tallied 11 hits with none being extra. Roster moves: RHP Clarence Martina returned to the FCL; RHP Cody Howard reassigned from the FCL.
