With six strong innings from the same pitcher, and pair of two-run rallies in the 7th and 8th, Rochester beat the Knights, 5-2. Chandler Champlain notched his seventh quality start with two runs let in on five hits (one HR) and a walk while striking out five. He was rewarded with a no-decision. Cole Henry got the “W,” striking out five of six batters faced in the 7th and 8th. Gus Varland struck out the side in the 9th to earn the save. Trey Lipscomb singled twice and doubled twice to extend his hit streak to 11 games while newcomer Liover Peguero drove in two and reached base twice to lead the Red Wings offense. RHP Wyatt Mills activated from the T.I.L.; C Kyle Hayes placed on the Development List; SS Liover Peguero assigned from Washington (MLFA).

The Senators scored in four straight innings to rally from 6-3 down to take a 7-6 lead but the ‘pen imploded in the 9th to lose, 9-7. DJ Herz toyed with the Flying Squirrels with six up and six down on 23 pitches. Isaac Lyon and Jhancarlos Carlos were not as effective, combining to cough up the first six Richmond runs. Robert Cranz gave up the last three in the 9th for the blown-save-loss. Devin Fitz-Gerald led the Sens offense with two singles, three runs scored, a homer, and two RBI. He was lifted in the 9th for (presumably) defensive purposes, which backfired when Devin Ortiz tried to one-hand a popup and committed the third Harrisburg error of the night, the first two committed by Cortland Lawson and… wait for it… Caleb Lomavita. Roster moves: LHP DJ Herz reassigned from Fredericksburg for MLB Rehab.

Jacob Walsh homered twice to lead Wilmington past Hudson Valley, 5-2, and even the series, 2-2. Miguel Sime Jr. went the first four innings and gave up a run on two hits and three walks and struck out seven. Euri Montero got the win with run allowed over two innings while Eiker Huizi worked 1-2-3 ninth for his fourth save. Chris Hacopian walked, singled, and stole two bases while Teo Banks reached base twice on double and walk and stole three bases to pace the Blue Rocks offense.

The FredNats couldn’t outhit their bullpen as they lost their fourth straight, 13-11. Juan Reyes was knocked from the box in the 3rd after six hits, two runs, and two walks. He struck out one. Gus Hughes blew an 8-6 lead with the “help” of an error as he allowed all three inherited runners to score and one of his own in the Woodpeckers four-run 6th. Fredericksburg had one extra-base hit out of 11 but stole five bases and drew nine walks while going 5-for-17 with RISP. Roster moves: RHPs Luke Johnson, Kai Petersen released; LHP Juan Reyes activated from the 7-Day I.L..
DSL Nationals 18 DSL Mets Blue 17 (10 inn.)

The two teams combined for 35 runs, 34 walks, 22 hits, 17 stolen bases, and eight errors. Somehow, the DSL Nationals edged the DSL Mets Blue, 18-17 in 10 innings. Franniel Reynoso gave up six runs (five earned) on two hits, seven walks, and four hit batsmen while facing 17 batters in parts of three innings. The winning pitcher—17-y.o. 5’7″ 145-lb Carlos Mueses—went 0-for-2 at the plate as the third catcher but got the last five outs to earn his first win in his second appearance. Adrian Tusen led the D-Nats’ 16-hit parade with two singles and a triple, followed by Juan Duran with a single, double, and two walks.

Lomavita had another catcher’s interference last night. It seems like a daily occurrence. DeLino came out to argue so I don’t know if the the Richmond hitters were doing something late to cause the interference.
