Two singles, a hit batsman, and an error ended the shutout bid while Brady House hit his fifth AAA homer to account for the Rochester offense. The FredNats hoemred three times in the last three innings, but it wasn’t enough to crawl out of the 8-0 hole and lost 11-8. Xander Meckley did little to rebut his demotion as he walked five, hit two, and retired one of eight batters faced. Johan Otanez was the sole reliever to not let in any runs, though he walked four over two and 2/3rds, which was a trend as the staff walked 13 total. Luke Dickerson, Sir Jamison Jones, and Coy James all homered and drove in six of the eight FredNats runs. Roster moves: RHP Xander Meckley demoted from Wilmington; C/RHP Christian Fagnant placed on the Development List.

Make that six straight losses for the FCL Nationals with a 4-3 decision to the FCL Astros. The tragic number is now four. Yaiker Torrelles made his second appearance with a scoreless 1st before giving way to Juan Lopez, who allowed all four F-Astros runs on five hits and three walks over three and 2/3rds innings while striking out two. Marconi German’s RBI triple got the F-Nats on the board while Carlos Tavares singled in one and a drew a walk to pace the FCL Nationals offense.

Franniel Reynoso went the first four and allowded two runs on four hits and a walk and struck out as many as you did. Darling Reyes came on with the bases loaded and one out in the 7th and let ’em all in with the “help” of an error. He got four outs total and got both his second win and his second blown save. Jonierbis Garces was the sole DSL National batter to go hitless on 13-hit game, led by Brad Rodriguez with single, double, and a walk with two runs scored and three RBI. Luke shall we call the development list
Arrested Development list
Lara outing had a lot of things happen
Meckley not quite ready for the next level ?
A really good article from Jesse Dougherty on the Nats approach to the draft (and layer development more widely) here: https://www.notus.org/sports/nationals-mlb-draft-front-office-toboni
It’s so refreshing to have a front office that thinks and cares about player development, and also cares to share their thinking with the fans!
and a comittment from ownership to provide the resources
Props to Luke and this site!
It has been a pleasure to read it every morning for several years now.
As a “dedicated” former Expos fan (since 1969), it was easy to continue to root for Jose Vidro, Brad Wilkerson, Brian Schneider, Nick Johnson, Jamie Carroll, Will Cordero, Livan Hernandez, Chad Cordero and the other former players. Frank Robinson and his entire staff also moved to Washington.
They have been long gone, but rather than root for the other Canadian team (Blue Jays), go Nationals go!!!
