In the completion, Lehigh Valley obliterated Rochester with 16 runs over the last five innings, including eight in the 8th for an 18-3 demolition. Andry Lara had both of his runs let in for four total and his fifth loss. Phillip Glasser led the Red Wings hit column with two singles and got the last four outs, allowing three inherited runs and two of his own on three hits and a walk, which was better than two of three relievers to precede him.

In the nightcap it was the Young and the Hapless, as Alex dug a two-run hole in a single inning pitched while Luke blew a 7-6 lead and served up five runs on six hits (one HR) in his only inning thrown in an 11-9 Red Wings loss. Phillip Glasser had his tenth multiple hit game since June 12 with two singles and a walk while Trey Lipscomb hit a two-run HR and Yoyo Morales tied Cayden Wallace for the Nats minors HR lead with a grand slam for his 18th homer of the season. RHP Trevor Gott got got (OK, fine: released); LHP Konnor Pilkington re-signed by reassigned from Washington (MLFA, released by Detroit June 24); C Kyle Hayes activated from Developmental Lsist; IF Seaver King placed on the 7-Day I.L.

The Senators put up crooked numbers in three consecutive middle innings to build an 8-1 lead. The bullpen bent but did not break for the 8-4 win. Isaac Lyon turned in a career-high seven innings pitched with run let in on seven hits, no walk, and four whiffs for his second AA win. Harrisburg marched to a 12-hit parade without a beer man. Ethan Petry and Cayden Wallace both singled and doubled while T.J. White went deep for the sixth time since his callup on June 9.

Hudson Valley broke open a 3-1 game with six runs in the middle innings and held off a late charge to hand Wilmington a 9-7 loss. Eriq Swan was charged with the loss, giving up four runs on six hits (one HR) and a walk. He struck out two and hit a batter. Angel Feliz doubled, homered, and stole a base while Jorglys Mota had two safeties and two swipes to lead the Blue Rocks offense.

The FredNats never trailed in a 5-1 win over the Fireflies. Travis “Sunday” Sthele was one out shy of qualifying for the win, allowing three hits and two walks and striking out three. Austin Amaral gave up the lone Columbia run on one hit and three walks. He struck two. Juan Willams singled, doubled, walked, and stole a base whle Luke Dickerson singled, walked, and homered to power the Fredericksburg offense.

The FCL Nationals got two in the 1st but the ‘pen couldn’t hold the lead, giving up tying runs in the 5th and game-winning run in extras for a 3-2 loss that dropped their tragic number to nine. Juan Lopez no-hit the F-Mets for four innings, but walked five and struck out six. 24-y.o. Sam Broderson coughed up the tying runs while 23-y.o. Colby Frieda gave up a double in the 8th with nobody out to lose for the third time. Brayan Cortesia and Browm Martinez combined to go 4-for-8 with a run scored (Cortesia) and an RBI (Martinez) and four of the 15 K’s piled up by the F-Nats batters.
DSL Nationals 10 DSL Arizona Red 3 – SUSP.

The D-Nats were among several teams that had their games suspended by lightning and/or thunderstorms yesterday. Presumably, it will be made up when two teams next meet on Thursday, July 16, however, the last game that was suspended like this was eventually canceled.
Man, the player development team has really helped unleash Lipscomb – 15 HR’s so far! He’s probably a career tweener but you gotta be happy for him.
On another note, I’m sorry to keep asking, but what the heck is going on with Harmon? He was put on the 7 day DL at the beginning of May but hasn’t pitched since.
According to BA’s latest update to their top 30:
Righthander Landon Harmon has missed two months with a left oblique strain and should return at some point in the second half of the season.

Lyon rarely used that massive sweeper that I’ve yet to see generate a strike and threw his low 90’s cutter and change-up for 7 innings. it looked like Brad Lord lite to me. a little less velo but a better changeup. keep it going kid!
Cruz and Cabrera got the prospect buzz but Feliz is making a case for himself even though he’s younger and had much less low A time than Cabrera. I’ll be watching how he finishes and will see if he can get a few headlines himself

What do the Nats and Red Wings do with Joey Wiemer ? Yesterday when he did swing they seemed to be half-hearted. In 15 games back to June 1st, he has 6 hits and 22 strikeouts. I’m sure he’s not happy with his situation but he sees to have given up. He’s on the 40 man but isn’t going to be called up playing this way.
Wiemer is the most likely candidate to be dropped off the 40 man roster with the Nats next addition. Crews isn’t going back down, and the Nats have lots of OF depth in Rochester. Doubt Wiemer is part of the organization after the next couple of weeks. Joey will always have his first week of the season when he dominated the sport.
