The Red Wings remain home for another six games while they root for the Sounds to beat the RedBirds, who play each other this week as the AAA first half ends on Sunday.
Harrisburg Senators, 32-31, 4th E.L. Southwest, 9½ GB
Harrisburg won just twice against the first-half champion Richmond and sunk into 4th place, though they’re just a half game out of 2nd place, which is currently held by this week’s opponent. It’s a summer camp day today at the City Isle followed by night games though Saturday and a day game on Sunday.
Wilmington Blue Rocks, 28-34, 4th Sally Lg. North, 11½ GB
The Blue Rocks’ June swoon (2-10) has them firmly in 4th place and a sub-.500 first half. This week, the Cyclones come to town for the first of two trips this season.
Fredericksburg Nationals, 44-19, 1st C.L. North, 10GA
The first half ends on Thursday with two wins records possible – 45 for the level in a half, 46 for the franchise. It’s the third and final series against Salem this week.

The F-Nats sent 18 men to the plate and saw 15 of them score in a 19-0 filet o’fish (OK, fine: F-Marlins). Meanwhile, three FCL Nationals pitchers combined on a one-hit shutout, with one walk and one FCL Marlins player reaching second base. Hence, the F-Marlins’ 0-for-1 mark with RISP. Meanwhile, the F-Nats were a robust 6-for-15 with RISP, which does not include two sacrifice flies and three bases-loaded walks. Ten walks and two hit batsmen combined with 15 hits (seven for extra bases) and an error created 28 baserunners of which only eight were left on base, as the F-Marlins erased their error with a double play. Starting and winning pitcher Juan Reyes was perfect for four innings before giving up a hit and a walk in his fifth and final inning. He struck out six. Adam Bogosian and Ike Buxton both threw 1-2-3 innings in the 6th and 7th, respectively.

The DSL Mets Orange batters put the squeeze on the DSL Nationals pitchers for eight runs in the 6th en route to a 12-4 smackdown. Anyel Manzueta lost his second game with four runs let in on three hits and three walks over three and a 1/3rd innings. He struck out five and hit two batters. Rony Bello singled, tripled, and drove in a run while Esnaider Vargas walked and had an RBI single to lead the D-Nats attack.
They way things are going, we’ve been talking about bats more than arms. I’ve been doing my little lists to see what arms pop up. Would appreciate input into what arms I should be looking at.
Looking at WHIP shows what Jackson Kent is doing, and it is good to see Cranz and Perales there, but there are also some non-prospect guys.

one player not on Bob’s list is Riley Maddox. while I don’t think he has the stuff to be a starter, he has some decent strikeout numbers, gets a good amount of ground balls and in a year the ball has been leaving the parks in the Sally League, he’s only given up two HRs. his walk rate is just a bit too high.
time to move him up, move him to middle relief, see if he can throw a little harder in that role and hopefully find a little more command.
17 K Senators
10 Erie guys
11 walks to Erie batters
Only 3-1 loss
Only 4,274 buys in seats for matinee
Mostly summer camp kids
Hmmmm
You play with those numbers

Attendance still down this year compared to prior years and decades especially on City isle ?
No surprise attendance is down in Harrisburg. The ticket prices are too high. People are going to pay for gas and groceries first. I wish they could do some family style ticket packages there.
We are a month or less away from the amateur draft . Interesting to know what talent types the “ Young Turks “ looking at closely as the amateur seasons come to an end especially in Omaha .
We are all living through the
Same Truman Show
Eating protein bars for a usual meal
Jacking up on coffee to get wired in the morning
These jocks in sports have no idea what us normal citizens live through to come to a game and root for their. Varied. Efforts on the grass !
