After blowing a 2-1 lead in the 9th, Rochester busted out for five in the 11th to win their fifth straight, 7-2. Chandler Champlain, no relation to the Lake, gave up a run on a solo HR and five hits total over five and 2/3rds and left with a 2-1 lead. Cole Henry got the next four outs for the hold, but Eddie Yean let in the equaliser in the 9th for his third blown save. Lipscomb doubled in Robert Hassell to take a 3-2 lead and beat a rundown down between thid and home to go up 4-2. Abimelec Ortiz homered to put the game out of reach, which made a winner out of Trevor Gott for working a scoreless 10th. Roster moves: None. Wait. What?
Harrisburg 3 Akron 1
• Van Scoyoc (W, 5-1) 5⅓ IP, 4H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 5K

The Senators got single runs in the 1st, 5th, and 8th innings in a 3-1 win over the RubberDucks. Connor Van Scoyoc picked up his 5th win while pitching into the 6th for the first time in nearly two years (when he was last a starter). The 26-y.o. journeyman gave up the Akron run on four hits with nary a walk and five whiffs. Thomas Schultz, Robert Cranz, and Erick Mejia combined for three and 2/3rds scoreless with Schults and Cranz earning holds and Mejia getting his 5th save. The rain that shortened game one postponed game two, which they’ll try to make up tonight. Roster moves: RHP Tucker Biven activated from the 7-day I.L.

A few days in a row now where the pitching has decided to show up. There aren’t any particularly dominant outings, but quiet efficiency. One worth noting is 31 year old, 2nd year pitcher: Erick Mejia. I’m amazed his transition to pitching has been as effective as it is. He’s now got a stellar 1.13 ERA, 22 K in only 16 IP.
Robert Cranz has also been very effective since getting promoted. 4 scorless outings, and 6 K in 6 IP for Harrisburg.
Meanwhile, the Red Wings were dominated by Jake Bennett, before the Woo Sox’s bullpen fell apart. Bennett went 5 IP, allowed 1 ER and struck out 11. He’s got a 1.84 ERA in AAA on the season (and 4.35 ERA in 2 starts in the MLB).
interesting fifth inning for Bennett.
Wings go double/single/single but only load the bases.
nine pitches later he has 3Ks and is done for the night.
