Rochester vs. Worcester – PPD
Rain washed away the finale between Rochester and Worcester. They’ll make it up with a doubleheader on Thursday, June 11 during the next series between the Red Wings and the (ugh) WooSox. Roster moves: LHP PJ Poulin recalled to Washington.

Shinnosuke Ogasawara went the distance, allowing the ‘Ducks one run on six hits, no walks, ans six K’s in as the Senators took the opener, 5-1. Marcus Brown doubled in one run and singled in two while Sam Petersen reached base three times on a walk, double, and a single to lead the Harrisburg offense.

Five Harrisburg relievers combined to shut out Akron, 3-0 on three hits and complete the doubleader sweep. Thomas Schultz was the opener and went the first two, followed by Jared Simpson with two more innings. Erick Mejia was the pitcher of record when the Senators took the lead at 1-0 on an Elijah Nunez sac fly in the 5th. An inning later, Sam Petersen hit a two-run HR to go along with his 10th double. Robert Cranz struck out four but needed an assist from Valentin Linarez to close it out, with Cranz earning his second hold and Linarez getting his first save of the season.

After 71 minutes, the opener started with the Blue Rocks getting a gift run that nearly stood up until the BlueClaws loaded the bases on three singles and scored the equalizer on a 2-3 fielder’s choice. Wilmington starter Josh Randall wriggled out of the jam to notch the quality start of six innings thrown, one run let in on seven hits and one walk while striking six. Brady Hill worked a 1-2-3 top of the 7th. Elijah Green worked a leadoff wlk, took second on catcher’s interference on T.J. White, and scored ahead of Devin Fitz-Gerald’s 11th double. Yeremy Cabrera and Ethan Petry rounded out the Wilmington hit column with singles.

In the “aftercap,” Wilmington broke the seal with a four-run 4th, highlighted by a three-run double off the bat of Hunter Hines. Yoel Tejeda tossed four scoreless with two hits and two walks allowed and four strikeouts. Bryan Polanco nearly finished the game, going the next two and 2/3rds before Devin Fitz-Gerland’s error loaded the bases with two outs. Yeuris Jimenez came on an issued a walk to account for the BlueClaws run, but got the third out to make a winner out of Polanco and earn his second save.

Eli Willits doubled twice, including a two-run number that capped off a three-run 4th as the FredNats tripled up the Woodpeckers, 6-2 in the opener. Miguel Sime Jr. no-hit Fayetteville for three innings, but balked in a run while issuing three walks and striking out seven. The win went to Bryce Montes de Oca for pitching a scoreless 4th. Grant Manning gave up the other ‘Peckers run on hit and two Robles over two inning but was credited with his fourth hold. Juan Cruz hit a two-run HR in the top of the 6th to put the game on ice.

Fredericksburg tripled up Fayetteville, 9-3 in the second game to sweep the twinbill. Carson Fischer went the first four, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out three. After Gus Hughes and Ryan Minckler muddled through the 5th and 6th, Julian Tonghini kept the Woodpeckers off the board in the 7th to earn the win as the most effective reliever. Jordan Williams and Coy James both homered and combined for five RBI while Dashyll Tejeda reached base twince and stole his fourth base in three games since coming up from Florida.

FCL Nationals, 9-5, 2nd FCL East, 1½ GB
The FCL Nationals won five of six last week and gained two games in the standings but remain in 2nd place behind the FCL Astros. This week, it’s just four games with trips to Jupiter tomorrow (FCL Marlins) and Friday (FCL Cardinals) and home games on Wednesday (FCL Mets) and Saturday (F-Cards).
