Marlins Shut Out Nats, 3-0
The Nats mustered just four singles in a 3-0 shutout loss to the Marlins. It was Washington’s third loss in its last five games (one win, one tie).
Brad Lord made his first start of the spring but was strafed for two runs on on five hits over two and a 1/3rd innings to take the loss. Kyle Luckham minimized the damage by stranding two runners while getting the last two outs in the 3rd.
Christian “Hey It’s” Frankin started in LF and Abimelec Ortiz was the DH. Franklin went 1-for-3 with two whiffs while Ortiz wnet 0-for-2 with a walk.
Riley Cornelio gave up the third and final Miami run on a homer in the 6th. He pitched three innings, allowed two hits, walked none, and struck out four.
Much like yesterday afternoon, the watchlist guys were a non-factor coming off the bench as Andrew Pinckney went 0-for-2 as CF Robert Hassell’s replacement and Phillip Glasser grounded out to end the 7th in place of LF Joey Weimer and played the last two innings in the field.
Washington (5-3-2) remains in West Palm Beach tomorrow afternoon to “visit” Houston. Josiah Gray is expected to make his first spring training start since 2024 and just his fourth appearance since contracting Nats elbow in 2024.
The game will be broadcast on MLB.tv and MLB Radio; Houston feeds for both. The next Nats.tv game will be an exhibition against Venezuela on Wednesday night.
