The NationalsProspects.com Top 11 Position Players
The Ferrer-for-Ford trade kind of messed things up, so I made the executive decision to slot the Nats’ latest trade acquisition at #2 and drop everyone one spot while expanding the list by one. Unlike BA, MLB Pipeline, et al, this is one-and-done… even if there’s another trade this week.
- Eli Willits
- Harry Ford
- Seaver King (2)
- Yohandy Morales (3)
- Ethan Petry
- Angel Feliz (10)
- Christian Franklin
- Luke Dickerson (9)
- Marconi German
- Andrew Pinckney
- Coy James
Others receiving votes: Chad Lomavita, Sam Petersen, Phillip Glasser, Orvelis Martinez, Christhian Vaquero, Brayan Cortesia, Sir Jamison Jones
In the voting, there were just three players listed on every ballot (Willits, King, and Morales). Just two more were listed on seven of the eight (Petry and Franklin). [Insert obligatory caveat about the sample size here.]
I’m not sure what to make of this. Most of the AATTL players either played less than 100 games in the Nats system or were called up. Perhaps it’s that ineffable (and sounds kind of dirty) “I like the cut of his jib” that led some folks to vote for player X vs. player Y in a sea of Zzzzzzzzzzz.
Next up: The Top 10 Pitchers – six or seven who may actually pitch in ’26!
Interesting list. It’s now a top 2 list, and then a bunch of other guys. There’s some highly variable guys, who could skyrocket up the list with good starts: James, Feliz, Dickerson, German, etc. But the inverse is also just as true. (If Willits didn’t have the 1-1 designation, I think he too would fit in this category)
There’s a bunch of high-level, high-flaws types too: King, Morales, Franklin, Pinckney, etc. If King can learn how to hit, he could be really good. If Morales ever taps into that power, if Pinckney can cut his chase rate, etc. issues that look less and less likely to ever disappear at their advanced ages (though if there was ever a time it would be now with entirely new coaching – you could possibly lump Ford into this category too).
I can see an argument for naming just about anyone #3 or #18 of the above names, depending on one’s preference for risk.
Somehow, I think ranking pitching might be even harder/more variable…
Many of us were very fond of Bob Henley ( as well as Randy Knorr )
All the best Bob in the best weather city in US!
Harrisburg should have an interesting outfield at some point when Petry and Peterson pass through .
Herrera signed off Readibg Phillies like Carlos De LaRosa should. Receive some hitting instruction to see if he can increase his launch mechanism . 9 taters in 332 ABs
That’s a tall hitter with no punch .
“Bunch of other guys.” Yes. I had a very difficult time getting excited about this list as I was making it. But I also kept reminding myself that the Nats “graduated” Crews, House, Lile, and Hassell in 2025 and Wood, Young, Lipscomb, Millas, and Nunez in 2024. That’s a heavy but positive “drain” of the system.
I realize that a lot of this is throwing darts right now, particularly with new draftees, but I’m surprised that Petersen didn’t even make the top 10 despite a three-level run through the season at a .910 OPS clip, followed by .934 in the AFL.
I give up, what is AATTL?
Assumed AATTL was “And Another Top Ten List”, but just a guess.

Thx, I suspect I’d have figured that out before the All-Star break
Happy Birthday to the Nats #1 bat…
Eli turns 18 today. So, he can now vote, but no booze for three more years…
