AFL Update: Oct. 31, 2025
Scottsdale bounced back from losing one in a row to double up Glendale, 10-5.
Seaver King (pictured) drove in three with a sacrifice fly in the 1st and a two-run triple in the 2nd before he was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the 4th.
Pablo Aldonis was the first reliever to pitch, allowing one inherited runner to score in the 2nd on a walk and wild pitch then gave up one of his own on a double. Aldonis worked around an infield single in the third.
Austin Amaral came on in the 4th and allowed the tying run on a walk and a single before working 1-2-3 fifth.
It should be noted that both Aldonis and Amaral were “assisted” by Scorpions catcher Walker Janek, who allowed two passed balls, committed an error, and threw out one of four basestealers.
Scottsdale (13-6) travels to Salt River (8-11). The Scorpions’ lead is now a full game after the second-place Sagauros and third-place Javelinas battled to a 0-0 tie with 21 combined K’s.
Interesting how the new front off “ super team “ seeds AA and A plus next summer .
There aren’t many PHs used in the AFL. Are we sure King wasn’t lifted due to an injury? Parsing through the play log, he wasn’t removed after an event that would normally trigger an injury (a play at the plate, a SB attempt, etc.). He did hit a triple, but he wasn’t taken out until 2 innings later. But maybe he tweaked something then, and couldn’t play through? I hope not, and it was just a weird, irregular PH.
Care to guess which of yesterday’s three games hasn’t been archived yet?
I will publucally tip the cap to Seaver King on his redemption when his AFL magic plays in spring training and carries into April cold weather hitting
