Rochester was shut out in eight innings, but a five-run 6th and justenough pitching carried the day for a 5-4 win over Memphis. Adrian Sampson notched his fifth win and fifth quality start for the Red Wings with three runs let in on six hits (one HR) and a walk over six innings. Julian Fernández stranded the tying run at second while getting out of the 8th and worked around an infield single in the 9th to earn the save. José Tena led the Rochester hit column with two singles while Juan Yepez doubled in two to lead the Red Wings offense. Roster moves: UT Darren Baker outrighted from Washington; RHP Seth Shuman activated from 7-Day I.L.; C Brady Lindsly stashed on the Development List.

The Senators jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st but still lost for the seventh straight game, 5-1. Hyun-Il Choi took the loss despite a serviceable five innings of two-run ball on four hits and a walk and one (1) strikeout. Seaver King reached base three times on two singles and a double, scoring ahead of the first of two Joe Naranjo singles.

Somehow, the groundskeepers at Frawley Stadium were able to make the field playable after Thursday night’s flooding – enough that nine IronBirds were able to circle bases without pulling a hamstring or turning an ankle in a 9-2 win over Wilmington. Eriq Swan tossed three scoreless in his last start, allowing two hits, walking three, and fanning three. Xander Meckley blew an early 2-0 lead and gave up three runs on five hits and two walks to lose for the third time at High-A. T.J. White singled twice and doubled once, as did Brandon Pimentel. The rest of the lineup went 2-for-24 with nine strikeouts.

The FredNats walked off the MudCats with a Jorgelys Mota grand slam to clinch the 2nd half C.L. North title on percentage points, 5-1. It was the 13th time Fredericksburg has won in its final at-bat, which leads all of minor-league baseball (H/T FredNats media team). Bryan Polanco went the first six, allowing the Carolina run on four hits and four walks while striking out two. Ben Moore struck out three over two scoreless innings in his pro debut. Owen Puk worked around a walk in the 9th and got his first win. Mota also doubled while Brenner Cox homered in the 7th to tie the game at 1-1.
