Rochester Red Wings, 16-23, 9th I.L. East, 13GB – 43-68 Overall
With five losses last week, the Red Wings passed the Bisons for the worst record in AAA, albeit by just a half game. This week, the first-place Mets come to town for six with a matinee tomorrow.
Harrisburg Senators, 18-20, 4th E.L. Southwest, 3½ GB – 52-55 Overall
Multiple sources are reporting that Alex Clemmey will be promoted this week after six no-hit innings that extended his scoreless inning streak to 22⅔ and five wins in his last six starts. This week, Harrisburg heads to the Insurance City for six with a day game on Sunday.
Wilmington Blue Rocks, 17-25, 5th Sally Lg. North, 14GB – 47-60 Overall
As noted last week, the infusion of new starters did little to change the Blue Rocks’ offensive woes as they scored a grand total of 12 runs while the the additions to the rotation lost all three games. This week, Wilmington hosts Jersey Shore for five nights and Sunday afternoon.
Fredericksburg Nationals, 20-17, 2nd C.L. North, 2½ GB – 50-52 Overall
Fredericksburg returns to Virginia for the remainder of the regular season after a two-week swing through South Carolina. This week, it’s six night games against Fayetteville.

The D-Nats returned to .500 with their third straight win, edging the D-Bombers, 5-4. Juan Reyes turned in five innings of two-run ball on four hits and a walk while striking out three. Anyel Manzueta turned that into a no-decison with two runs let in. Jhondel Salas picked up the win when Rony Bello singled in Adrian Tusen. Ranger Sarit got the save after stranding two while getting out of the 8th and worked around a walk in the 9th. Marconi German smacked his 8th HR, which is third-most in the DSL.
No matter what baseball affiliate level
OF assist at 1b always impressive unless the base runner ran like Tommy LaSorda
Let’s see how the new imported starters do this week on the second starts
Shall we think elbow with Cole Solesky considering the way things have gone this summer for farm arms ?
I believe the Nats brass happy with BB and Brown at AA since JDL and Donta Williams must be in witness protection or placed at a Siberian weather station .
Still waiting on the announcement of all these 22-24 year old draft picks to be assigned to the minors… It’s been nearly a month now since most of them signed.
you would think Petry and Smith at the very least could be getting ABs in F’burg without disrupting any prospects’ development. and the FredNats are home for 3 out of 4 of the remaining series. maybe it just makes too much sense.

We agree Meckley with consistent arsenal could log 100 IP in 2026
Right? And to be fair, Henseler and Hollifield have been assigned already. But we leaned HEAVILY into drafting college seniors (or old juniors) in this draft.
Smith (primarily a catcher, but played basically everywhere else around the field too), Henseler (5th year senior, actually, 3B), Hunter Hines (1B), Jack Moroknek (corner OF), Jacob Walsh (1B) are all college seniors (and well as pitchers Tonghini, Maddox, and Puk, but putting them aside for the moment). Then Petry (corner OF with experience at 1B, Hollifield (C) and Juan Cruz (1B) were our two college junior bats.
There’s not much positional diversity there… But 1B, catcher and corner outfield are extremely weak positions in Fredericksburg and Wilmington at the moment.
In Fredericksburg, you’ve got Carlos Taveras and his .454 OPS (no, that’s not a typo) as their starting 1B. At catcher, you now have Hollifield, but splitting time with him is Kevin Bazzell and his .547 OPS (again, not a typo). In the corner OF positions, you have Nick Peoples (.625 OPS) and Nathaniel Ochoa-Leyva (.493 OPS. Again, not a typo…) as the starters. At this point, Bazzell is the only one remotely in prospect territory, and with the season he’s had, it might not be the worst thing to just give him an extended winter to try and reset. But everyone else shouldn’t be an impediment to playing time for any warm body. What are we waiting for? These guys aren’t getting any younger. Almost every draft pick I’ve named is 22 or older, and the average age of bats in A ball is 20.4, meaning these guys are already way above average. Get them in the game already!
FWIW, all of the signed draft picks are playing games at the Park of the Palm Beaches. It’s just that the stats from those games, whether intersquad or against the Astro’s draftees and other randos not currently assigned, aren’t released to the public. Guessing that the Nats and lots of other teams like to do this; so, they can try guys at different positions or even bat guys multiple times more than they could in “real” games to get a look on them.
In addition the Nats facility at the Park of the Palm Beaches has superior abilities to support the players (weight and conditioning areas; batting cages; monitoring devices) then Fredericksburg or Wilmington.
It’s not like Ethan Petry and Riley Maddox are just sitting around doing nothing. This is not just a Nats thing; several teams like to keep their recent draftees at their training facility for this purpose.
understood.
the assignments are beginning today, Petry to F’Burg and Clemmey to AA among other moves
Welch takes Taveres spot at Fred
So the Bucs want to add infield depth on winter.
One could see a former Nats hand end up at Indy 2026.
