• Cuevas 2IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 3K
• Hassell 1-2, BB, 2B(10)
• Tena 1-2, BB

Syracuse jumped on Cade Cavalli for runs in each of his three innings thrown en route to handing Rochester its seventh shutout, 8-0. Cavalli was strafed for eight hits (one HR), walked one, and struck out four to lose for the second time at AAA. Robert Hassell and Jose Tena both went 1-for-2 with a walk. The rest of the lineup was 0-for-17 with a walk (Darren Baker) and a hit-by-pitch (Trey Lipscomb).

Syracuse 10 Rochester 2 – GM. 2
• Shuman 6⅔ IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 3BB, 3K, 2HR
• Sinclair (L, 3-2) ⅓ IP, 4H, 6R, 5ER, 1BB, 1K

• Schnell 2-3, R, RBI, SB
• Pinckney 2-4, OF assist at 3B

Believe it or not, it was 2-2 going into extras before the Mets sent 10 men to the plate and scored eight of ’em runs to win 10-2 and complete the doubleheader sweep. Jack Sinclair retired just one of six batters faced in the 8th and was charged with six runs (five earned) on four hits and a walk. A dishonorable mention to Patrick Weigel, who came on with the bases loaded and one out and emptied them along with two runs of his own on a HR. Nick Schnell and Andrew Pinckney both singled twice to lead the Red Wings seven-hit assault. Roster moves: LHP Shinnosuke Ogasawara returned from MiLB Rehab, activated from 7-Day I.L.; RHP Adrian Sampson placed on the 7-Day I.L.

Akron 4 Harrisburg 2
• Stuart ⅔ IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 0K

• Thomas 2-3, R, 2B(5)
• King 1-4, R, RBI

Tyler Stuart came up shaking his right arm after his 14th and final pitch of the night – most likely the latest case of Nats elbow. Meanwhile, the RubberDucks doubled up the Senators, 4-2. The loss went to Dustin Saenz after giving up the go-ahead run in the 3rd on two hits and a walk. Harrisburg hitters blasted Akron pitchers for four singles and a double by Johnathon Thomas, who was the sole Sens batter to reach base twice.

Wilmington 7 Hudson Valley 4
• Kent 5⅔ IP, 7H, 4R, 4ER, 0BB, 6K, HR
• Amaral 2⅓ IP, 3H, 0R, 1BB, 1K

• White 2-4, 2R, 3B, RBI
• Brown 2-3, 2R, BB, RBI
• Dugas 1-2, BB, RBI

Hudson Valley erased a 2-0 Wilmington lead a with a grand slam in the 6th only to have the Blue Rocks answer in the 8th with three singles and three walks for five runs to win, 7-4. Jackson Kent left with two outs in the 6th after seven hits allowed. He walked none and struck out six. Austin Amaral got the next seven outs, allowing three hits and a walk and getting huge assist from Sam Petersen, who gunned down a runner at the plate to end the 7th. T.J. White singled, tripled, and scored two runs as did Marcus Brown on two singles and a walk to lead the Wilmington offense.

Kannapolis 5 Fredericksburg 1
• A. Roman (L, 2-6) 6IP, 9H, 5R, 5ER, 0BB, 2K
• Dowdell 2IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 2K
• R. Diaz 1-4, R, 2B
• Barbieri 1-4, 3B

The Cannon Ballers bombed the FredNats for three in the 2nd and two in the 6th en route to a 5-1 win over the FredNats. Angel Roman was trotted out again to throw a season-high six innings but gave up five runs for the third time in 11 starts (fifth time in 14 appearances) on nine hits. Randal Diaz doubled and scored a run while Francesco Barbieri tripled for the two extra-base hits out of six collected by Fredericksburg.

FCL Nationals 2 FCL Marlins 1
• Sullivan 2⅔ IP, 2H, 0R, 4BB, 5K
• Agostini (W, 1-0) 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Kane (SV, 3) ⅔ IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K, 2-0 IR-S
• D. Tejeda 2-3, R, RBI, 3SB(15), CS
• L. Arias 1-4, R

The FCL Nationals closed out the week with a 2-1 win over the FCL Marlins. Liam Sullivan got the first eight outs and stranded all six runners he put on base while striking out five. Gabriel Agostini got the “W” with two scoreless innings while Tommy Kane got the save by striking out both batters he faced. Dashyll Tejada singled twice, scored a run, and stole three bases while Luis Arias and Angel Feliz rounded out the F-Nats hit column with a single apiece.

DSL Nationals 6 DSL Mariners 2
• Torrelles 4IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 6K

• Liriano 1-2, R, BB, 2B, RBI
• N. De La Cruz 1-3, R, SF, RBI, SB

The D-Nats led from start to finish, tripling up the D-Mariners, 6-2. Yaiker Torrelles spun four scoreless to start the game, allowing two hits, no walks, and striking out six. Jose Sanches earned the win though the gave up a run on four hits and two walks with three whiffs. Brayan Cortesia led DSL Nationals hit column with three singles and a double from the leadoff spot.

Akron scored its final two runs in the 7th when Glasser lost a fly ball in the twilight that would have been the third out.

Last night was DeJong’s eleventh rehab game for the Sens. Anybody have any rationale on why he hasn’t played some in Rochester or isn’t back with the Nats?

Luke I think all of us conjured up the inevitable about Stuart in the line score with 14 pitches
Not to sound cold like a John D Rockefeller but but .. the assembly line of player development continues
Amateur draft ahead . Kade Anderson and others probably soon to be added .
      Segway to my next thought
      Kade Anderson number one pick
Round two : some alternate bat / athlete choice to legacy kids Holliday and Willits .
Somebody was really spot on in Akron with that photo . Like Matthew Brady …

Tyler Stuart — oh no. He’s one I have some good hopes for. Fingers crossed that it isn’t serious.

Cade Cavalli — oh no. He’ll turn 27 in less than two months and he’s looking pretty mediocre at the AAA level. His 10 AAA starts are not a small sample size. He’s got a 5.27 ERA and is surrendering 9.0 hits per nine, in addition to 4.2 walks. I kept the faith about him and was touting him during the offseason as someone I really thought would surge and be showing something at the MLB level by now. Unless things turn around for him soon, though, we’re getting into Rutledge territory. In fact, Rutledge is younger than Cavalli and they’ve already kicked him to the bullpen.

Cavalli is reaching a career tipping point. I’m still rooting for him to turn into a significant asset, but it’s time for the results to match the “projection.”

This summer draft should have a handful of interesting arms to consider for rotation spots .
Lead off by Kade or Jaime
