Worcester 5 Rochester 4
• Peralta 6IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 4K, HR
• H. Harris (BS, 3; L, 1-2) ⅔ IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 1K, PTV
• F. Reyes 2-3, R, HR, 2BB, RBI
• Alu 2-5, 2B

After a 47-minute delay (by rain!) the Red Wings broke out for three in the 4th and tacked on another run in the 7th. Alas, it was not enough as the (ugh) Woo Sox answered in their half of the 7th with three to turn the 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 win. Wily Peralta turned in another quality start of two runs on five hits (one HR) and two walks while striking out four. Hobie Harris retired just two of seven batters faced, allowing the last three runs on three hits and two walks for the (dreaded) blown-save-loss. Franmil Reyes and Travis Blankenhorn both went deep with nobody on but only Carter Kieboom was able to connect with a RISP as his RBI triple was the sole hit in eight chances as Rochester left on ten men. Roster moves: LHP Joe La Sorsa optioned from Washington (waiver claim from Tampa Bay); RHP Odalvi Javier reassigned from Harrisburg.

New Hampshire 7 Harrisburg 2
• Henry (L, 0-1) 3⅔ IP, 4H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 3K
• Knowles 1⅓ IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K, 1-0 IR-S
• Rutherford 2-4, 2B, RBI
• Cluff 1-4, R, HR, RBI, E(1)

The wheels came off the bus for the Cole Henry comeback tour as New Hampshire roughed him up for four runs in a 7-2 smackdown. The 23-y.o. got knocked from the box with two out in the 4th. He gave up four hits and two walks while striking out three, taking the loss. Four relievers followed, each getting four outs, with three of the four going unscathed. Alas, it was for naught as the Harrisburg bats were held to five hits, with Blake Rutherford and Jackson Cluff accounting for both RBI and both extra-base hits for the Sens. Roster moves: LHP Dustin Saenz promoted from Wilmington.

Greensboro 1 Wilmington 0
• Alvarez 5IP, 2H, 0R, 3BB, 9K
• Schoff (L, 3-3) 1BF, 1H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 0K, HR
• McKenzie 1-3, BB, CS
• J. Young 1-4

The Blue Rocks’ woes continued as they dropped their third straight one-run decision (and fourth game in a row) with a 1-0 walkoff loss in the 9th. Andrew Alvarez tied his season-high of nine whiffs while pitching five scoreless innings with two hit and three walks allowed. Dannel Diaz, Thomas Ruwe, and Jared Zinn each put up a goose egg to keep the Star Trek Convention going on the scoreboard until Tyler Schoff saw his 6th pitch sail over the CF wall. 21-y.o. Thomas Harrington dominated Wilmington for seven innings, allowing just two singles by Jared McKenzie and Jacob Young while setting down eight on strikes.

Fredericksburg 6 Charleston 1
• Caceres (W, 3-0) 5IP, 4H, 1R, 0ER, 2BB, 3K
• Lord (H, 3) 3IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Lile 2-3, 2R, HR, 4RBI, SB(15)
• W. Perez 1-3, R, 2B, RBI
• Boisserie 1-3, R, BB, 2B(5)

Fredericksburg finally climbed back to .500 with its 15th win in its last 18 games, a 6-1 decision over Charleston. Bryan Caceres picked up his third win with five innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and two walks while setting down three on strikes. Brad Lord neutered the Riverdogs for three innings to earn his third hold. Daylen Lile was a one-man wrecking crew, scoring twice while going 2-for-3 with a HR and four RBI and stealing his 15th base. Branden Boisserie and Wilmer Perez both doubled and scored a run in the FredNats’ eight-hit, four-walk night. Roster moves: OF Christopher De La Cruz reassigned from the FCL.

FCL Nationals 15 FCL Marlins 8 (7 inn.)
• C. Sanchez 3IP, 6H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 2K, WP
• M. Diaz (W, 1-0) 1⅔ IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, K, 2-0 IR-S
• Klassen 2-2, 3R, 2B, BB, 2RBI, HBP
• Mota 2-2, R, 2B, RBI
• Baca 2-3, R, RBI, HBP
• Peoples 2-4, 2R, HR(GS), 4RBI

The F-Nats evened up their won-loss record as they outslugged the F-Marlins for a 15-8 win. Camilo Sanchez got the start but was hooked by the Fish for three runs and six hits and two walks over three innings. The win went Moises Diaz, who stranded two while getting the last two outs of the 5th and working around a pair of singles in the 6th. Nick Peoples’s first pro HR was a grand slam, which highlighted a six-run 3rd that put the FCL Nationals up 10-3. Returnee Blake Klassen reached base four times with a double, single, walk, and a Victor Robles to lead the 11-hit parade in which four batters had multiple hits.
Roster moves: OF Brenner Cox demoted from Fredericksburg; C Maxwell Romero assigned from Fredericksburg for MiLB rehab; UT Jeter Downs assigned from Rochester for MiLB rehab; RHP Camilo Sanchez activated from 7-Day I.L.

DSL Mariners 2 DSL Nationals 1 (7 inn.)
• H. Moreno 3⅓ IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 1K, HBP, 2WP
• R. Cuevas 1⅔ IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, K
• E. Soto 2-3, 2B
• Rosario 1-2

I’m not gonna pretend to be overly excited about acquiring Joe La Sorsa because before yesterday I had never heard of him. But, he has good numbers, he’s young-ish, he’s tall and he’s left-handed and he comes from a winning organization.

And he can’t be worse than the flotsam and jetsam that the Nats have used in the bullpens in Rochester and Washington.

Speaking of, Hobie Harris was a nice story coming out of spring training but he was ineffective with Washington and somehow been even less effective with Rochester. How much longer is he gonna take up a spot on the 40-man?

With Saenz being promoted, can we expected Rutledge to get the bump up next?

Henry came out sharp and strong (95-96) then appeared to tire a bit in the third. The fourth was a long inning for him and he lost his command and a couple ticks of his fastball. Nevertheless, not a bad outing in the sense that he looks healthy. I’d say he just needs to get used to pitching a full game again and I don’t expect that to take long.

Cluff and Wood made some nice defensive plays and the former did run into one but otherwise a bit of a lackluster game for the Sens,

Agree 100%. He was cruising along and the bases loaded triple did him in. I thought Hassell could run balls down, but Wood can also. His long arms could reach that ball that others may not have.

good pitchers duel with contrasting styles for five innings in Greensboro; Alvarez pitching backwards and confounding the Hoppers while Harrington just blew away our boys with four seamers.

Really good to see Saenz finally get a well deserved promotion to Harrisburg, next up Alvarez and his 2.93 ERA?

I’m also surprised we haven’t seen any of the talented Fredericksburg bats yet get promoted to Wilmington. House, Lile, Lawson and Stehly have made a case, particularly House, who between injuries played a significant amount of time there last season. Lile, Stehly and Lawson had far less experience there.

Though I guess the problem is what then to do with Lipscomb? Are we sure House can’t play at SS?

James Wood has some serious wheels for a big rig, as his five triples this season attest. There are some who claim that he could stick in CF, although there’s unlikely to be need for that in the Nats’ grand scheme of things.

Glad that Saenz is being moved up for the next challenge. We’ll see how he does. The step from A+ to AA seems to be a giant leap for many pitchers.

I mentioned Nick Peeples a few days ago as one in FCL who interests me. Big kid with a lot of potential tools as he fills out.

Good luck to Brenner Cox. Go down to FCL and tear it up.

The only constant in life is change especially for affiliates especially Harrisburg
Herrera Hillman soon to be Troop
    JR soon to go up
Enter Saenz soon to be Alvarez and Bennett .
In Indy tonight as Tribe welcomes the Storm

watching Henry helps make the case that Rutledge would benefit from more time in AA. wasting fewer pitches and getting deeper being the goal. his two level jump affords the patience

House to high a. Lipscomb to aa. It’s sink or swim time for Trey.
