AFL Update: Oct. 31, 2021
Led by four strong innings from Cole Henry and a four-run 7th, Surprise rolled to its seventh straight win, 12-3 over Scottsdale.
Henry (pictured above) struck out six to push his AFL-leading total to 21 in 12 innings this fall. He allowed one run on two hits and walked none while getting the “W.”
Evan Lee shook off his last outing to spin a scoreless 6th, working around a leadoff double and a walk. He threw 21 pitches, 10 for strikes.
Three Nats were in the starting lineup:
- Donovan Casey led off and played center field. He only went 1-for-5, but the “1” was his second home run, earning him another dugout stroll with the “home run hat.” (below)
- Jackson Cluff was the shortstop and the No. 2 batter. He went hitless in five trips to the plate, though he walked, stole a base, and scored a run.
- Drew Millas batted 7th as the Surprise DH but was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
The Scorpions and Saguaros will rematch tomorrow. Surprise has opened up a four-game lead in the AFL West with 15 games left on the 2021 slate.

Thank you Alou2Alu!!~
I fancy myself a pretty good photographer but the best I think I could do would be as good as Lee. He sets such a high bar. Gotta love that shot of Cole Henry.
Thank you Mark L.
I have a pretty good “seat” to shoot from and the abundant AZ sunshine lends itself to some great lighting.
Time to let loose Baby Shark
Bring on the Cowboy hat and Palka polka
One thing that hasn’t happened in the Beltway is a true old fashioned player for player trade between the Nats and Orioles .
