2013: Hickory Crawdads

Folks who’ve visited the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown ought to find this familiar.

Similar to Kannapolis, this is a ballpark that goes light on the frills, except for one…

…a roof! Yes, it’s an obsession of mine. Watch a few 95-degree day games and/or congregate with the throngs under some leaky stands and you might understand.

Another feature that needs to be more common — netting beyond the backstop, especially when the fields are as close to the seats as they are in the minors.

If you’re thinking it looked wet that night, here was the view from my two-star motel about two hours before gametime.
