Nats Drop Fifth Straight, 4-2

March 26, 2022

A 2-0 lead early went bye-bye in the middle innings as the Nats were once again unable to answer in a 4-2 loss to the Mets – their fifth straight defeat and seventh in eight spring training games.

Erick Fedde was easily the brightest spot, as the erstwhile starter went two and 2/3rds scoreless inning, allowing one hit, two walks, and striking out two. He threw 60 pitches, 36 for strikes.

Lane Thomas accounted for both Washington runs and two of the four (4) hits on the afternoon, with a two-run HR breaking the 0-0 tie in the top of the 4th. Keibert Ruiz also singled as did Jake Noll off the bench.

No watchlist players appeared in the game.

The Nats return to action on Monday afternoon as they host the Marlins in West Palm Beach. Patrick Corbin is expected to make his second appearance of the spring while Miami has yet to announce its starter.

The game will be broadcast on MASN and MLB Audio.

So Long, Boys

March 25, 2022

Unfortunately, this is the time of the year when we learn for sure who’s not coming back this summer. Yesterday’s transaction post from Baseball America had the following releases:

  • RHP Frankie Bartow (Harrisburg)
  • RHP Michael Mariot (MLFA)
  • RHP Jose Marquez (FCL)
  • RHP Jose Mercedes (FCL)
  • 2B Brian Klein (FCL)
  • IF RobertAnthony Cruz (FCL)
  • OF Jorge Hurtado (FCL)

There are no real surprises here. All but Mariot were Nats draftees or IFAs and only Bartow had played north of Florida.

Nats Lose Again, 3-2

MLB Pipeline Releases its 2022 Top 30 for Washington

March 21, 2022

For the third straight year, MLB released its Top 30 list for the Washington Nationals in the midst of spring training. Unlike years past, there are some stark differences between MLB’s and BA’s Top 30’s, though some of it is because MLB uses the rookie standard for… wait for it… MLB while BA ignores service …

Mets Triple Up Nats, 6-2

March 20, 2022

Three first-inning homers were more than enough to put the Nats away as they lost again, 6-2 to the Mets. Josiah Gray gave up four runs on those three dingers and four hits total over his inning and 2/3rds. He walked none and struck out two. The regulars once again needed the help of an …
