Rochester made it back-to-back wins and four of five from Buffalo with a 7-3 triumph on Saturday afternoon. Zak “Without A C” Kent wasn’t trying out some new guitars or playing Sara with no H’s favorite song, but instead went the first four innings an allowed a run on a solo HR and four hits total. He walked one and struck out three. Joe Glassey picked up the win with a single scoreless innings with one hit, no walks, and three K’s. Five relievers followed with Jake Bird allowing two in the 9th to make the game look closer than it was. Cayden Wallace led the Red Wings offense with two doubles, a walk, two runs scored, and three RBI while Max Romero Jr. singled, doubled, and drove in a run and Trey Lipscomb plated one with two more singles to push his season total to a career-best 147. Roster moves: RHP Andry Lara shuffled off the Development list; RHP Chandler Champlain hidden on the T.I.L.

Rochester’s win eliminated both Scranton/Wilkes-Barre/Bruford/Wakeman/Howe and Worcester while Indianapolis lost to Gwinnett, 2-1. Syracuse was down 4-3 with one out in the 9th when Zack Short hit a two-run HR to walk off Lehigh Valley and extend its win streak to five.

Today, it’s pretty simple: The Red Wings win, they’re in. The Mets lose, they’re in. The opposite? Syracuse goes to the playoffs. Unfortunately, unless the Nats change course, they’ll be trotting out an MLB rehab—Connolly Early, who was lit like Kennedy at open bar ins his last outing—instead of the best available reliever. Buffalo is more or less doing the same, with a de facto rehabber (Josh Winckowski) making his sixth appearance after spending most of the season on the I.L.
