Red Wings Rained Out of Season Finale
For the second in three games, but the last time this season, the Rochester Red Wings were rained out and the game was cancelled.
As noted in the comments, Andrew Stevenson was voted by the fans as the team’s most valuable player while Adrian “Señor Nacional” was recognized as the Most Civic-Minded Player for his off-field exploits, a.k.a. “visiting youth baseball leagues, summer camps, and participating in numerous reading engagements.”
The Red Wings finished 2022 at 67-81, 18 games off the pace in the I.L. East in 8th place.
ODDS AND ENDS
For those who are relatively new here, this site is an obsession I can’t quit a hobby that began when I had a lot more time on my hands than I do now. It’s a useful hobby because sometimes I can solve HTML issues here and then apply it to my day job as an “Email Guy” and vice-versa.
Anyway, sometimes there are things I’d like to pass along but don’t because the timer ran out. I’d rather do that than skip or shorten the writeups.
One such item was Jess Dougherty’s profile on Red Wings broadcaster Josh Whetzel, who you may have heard while muting the MASN broadcast and trying to sync up the radio feed. Having played broadcaster at the MASN Fantasy Camp back in the dark days of 2008, I can tell you it’s much harder than it looks or sounds.
Next up: The 2022 Final edition of the GBI.
Luke ty for a great season dogging through the highs and lows and the “ mud “ ( to keep it clean ) amidst this rebuild season Deux .
Some thoughts : interesting how Mighty Casey didn’t take much to the bat late in the season especially the concluding rainy Rochester finale week.
Instead we saw a fair share of DJ Peters .
DSL complex saw some kids really flash some tools / potential to build on .
Numerous starting pitchers logged 100 innings sending good messages to the “ brass”.
FRED was the jewel bunch in the system .
Wilmington had some guys our good seasons together but yet again some guys may have hit their A plus ceiling .
Jesus Sanchez should be an interesting talent for Senators in 23.
Now we await to see what performances occur in AFL and winter ball then the annual winter signing spree for depth , some new discovers in the free agent market for the upper farm tiers .
hear, hear!
I strive to make my hobbies beneficial to others as well as myself. I would be happy to achieve a fraction of the pleasure we are given by this site
Interesting factoid
Tommy Romero was involved in the Denard Span deal between Seattle and Tampa
Congrats Hot Rod Romero on a call up to the Bigs !
Does Fedde still get DFAd??
Let’s hope so.
Thanks again for another fantastic season of coverage, Luke!
It’s been a mainstay in my regular morning reading. Couldn’t imagine baseball season without NatsProspects. This site is far more entertaining than anything happening at the major league level.
My favourite baseball site. Thank You Luke and all the contributors for some insights.
I have been a baseball fan and seen many sure fire (not) prospects since the early day Expos!!
Potential is exciting, but reality says differently. Never tire of the ebbs and flows, rise and fall, of prospects. Reflects life.
Thanks to Luke for his daily updates and insights!
Add my voice to the chorus of kudos. With a h/t to the site regulars, who are always willing to point out my frequent obvious glaring errors 😀
I’d also like to express appreciation for this site and the group of contributors,
My choices for the “Double EE” (Exceeded Expectations) award:
1. Jake Alu. 24th round pick starting the season in AA, ending up as a hot hitter in AAA. Plays a position of need, so just maybe he gets a shot?
2. Israel Pineda. Going all the way from A+ to the MLB team at age 22 is quite an achievement. I don’t believe he’s been considered a top 10 prospect by anyone.
3. Joey Meneses. He had minor league success before (AAA player of the year) but to get to the big leagues and do well there. But really, do any 30-year old rookie position players have sustained success in MLB?
Next would be Zach Bryzkcy.
At the risk of being redundant, it time for me to say thank you, Luke, for all your work. This is my go-to site each morning no matter what and you make my life a better one.
My life in the minors began when I used to take the kids to Hagerstown to watch, I think, AA baseball in the 70’s.
In the 11 years of this site I had no idea Adrian Sanchez was such a community organizer. Good for him, it’s easy to see him with the organization for a long time.
Thank you Luke. This site is truly a gem.
Yes, additional thanks to Luke for his amazing faithfulness to this site.
Looking forward to seeing what Hassell and Frizzell can do in the AFL.
Thanks for keeping this up for yet another bumpy season, Luke. Things are maybe looking up in the Nats system? possibly? with this next wave of youngsters. Cheers to more wins to report in 2023.
