Indianapolis scored four times in its first five “ups” as they defeated Rochester, 9-1. Franklyn Kilome took the brunt of the beating, giving up five runs on five hits (one HR) and five walks over four innings. He struck out two while losing his fifth AAA game. John Nogowski broke up the shutout bid with an RBI double for the one hit in 11 RISP chances as the Red Wings were unable to capitalize on seven walks drawn.
Roster moves: RHP Cade Cavalli added to 40-man roster, recalled to Washington; IF Luis García MLB Rehab ended.

The Seawolves posted a picket fence in the first three innings and it would be more than enough to hand the Senators a 4-1 loss. Alex Troop remains stuck on seven wins as he gave up three solo HRs and four runs total on eight hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out eight in his fourth loss. Andrew Young connected for his 10th HR for the sole Harrisburg tally as the Sens managed just five other hits (all singles) with Darren Baker the sole batter to have multiple hits.

A grand slam to the first batter Gilberto Chu faced put the game away for the IronBirds as Aberdeen crushed Wilmington, 9-2. Mitchell Parker failed to make it through five for the third time in August, and the 11th time this season as he was charged with six runs (five earned) on three hits and four walks over two and a 1/3rd innings. He struck out none in his third loss. Cole Daily doubled twice and drove in one while Kevin Strohschein tripled and scored twice to lead the Blue Rocks’ five-hit barrage.

The FredNats outscored and outhit not only the WoodDucks but also the Blue Rocks, Senators, and Red Wings combined in a 23-8 laugher. Andry Lara got the Jack Morris win with six runs allowed on eight hits over five innings with no walks and five whiffs. Fredericksburg set franchise records for runs scored in a game, and runs scored in a single inning, as the lineup made foie gras out of three Down East pitchers by scoring 13 times and sending 18 men to the plate in the 7th.

Every starter reached base and even the one who didn’t get a hit—Zion Pettigrew—drew three of the team’s nine walks. It was a career night for Will Frizzell who hit three homers, drew a walk, scored four times, and drove in seven. Cortland Lawson hit a grand slam for his first pro homer while James Wood still has more hits (23) than games played for the FredNats (17), a feat matched by T.J. White so far in August with 18 and 16 respectively.
