Play was halted shortly after Brandon Snyder hit a three-run HR as Iron Pigs third baseman Daniel Brito suffered what’s officially being called “an on-field medical emergency.” Local reporter Sal Maiorana of the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle filed this story last night. Brito was taken to a local hospital and has reportedly undergone emergency surgery. No further details are available as we go to virtual press. Roster moves: RHP Mason Thompson recalled to Washington.

DSL Nationals 4 DSL Angels 0 – SUSP., Top 5th
• Rivas 2IP, 1H, 0R, BB, 3K
• Agostini 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Cruz 2-3, 2R
• W. Diaz 1-3, R, 2RBI
Time to pump the breaks on Lara being one of the Nats’ top prospects. He’s only 18, so there’s still plenty of time, but he hasn’t shown up and dominated, as some have been predicting for two years. He’s got big K numbers, but he’s also surrendering more than a hit an inning.
On a positive note in the FCL, good for Coutts for showing up after getting sent down with multiple multi-hit games.
Same for Armando Cruz hitting .170 in the DSL.
Leandro Emiliani can’t catch a break this season.
That whole promising 2019 GCL team, in fact, has been without exception a huge disappointment this year. Not just De la Rosa, Pena and Martina, whose struggles have been widely commented on, but the rest of the batters. Mason Doolittle showed some promise, but retired a few weeks ago… Strochschein, Geraldi Diaz and Braian Fernandez have regressed big time at Fburg. The pitchers too. Seijas, Cuevas and Bryan Pena were excellent in the GCL, and have been mostly awful in Fburg. Jose Ferrer is the only arm to put up good numbers again in 2021, but he’s strangely repeating at the GCL… err FCL again.
Cuevas is doing just fine.
