The Red Wings went medieval on the Red Sox’s [buttocks], scoring eight runs and hitting back-to-back-to-back homers in an 18-1 demolition. Newcomer Josh Rogers went from being released on Tuesday to winning his first game of the year on Saturday. The former O’s farmhand pitched into the 6th while giving up the lone Worcester run on a home run and six hits total. He walked two and struck out three. The first eight Rochester batters reached base in the 1st, with Brandon Snyder, Rafael Bautista, and Blake Swihart each going deep to cap off the barrage. Swihart would homer again in the 7th, demonstrating that the Curse of the GBI works both ways. Rochester’s hit parade totaled 22 hits with every batter reaching base multiple times.

Three Harrisburg pitchers combined on a three-hit hit shutout of Portland, 3-0. Luis won the battle of the Reyes, as the 26-y.o. outdueled 24-y.o. Denyi with five scoreless innings, two hits, and no walks allowed for his second win. Andrew Lee went the next three to earn the hold while Frankie Bartow set the side down in order in the 9th for his 6th save. The Senators had but one hit with RISP but it scored the third run. Jakson Reetz singled twice to lead the Harrisburg hit column and scored from first on a Drew Mendoza double while Aldrem smacked his first big fly of the season.

Despite having an MLB rehab starter, the Blue Rocks forgot about the part where they’re supposed to score some runs as Renegades shut them out, 4-0. Erick Fedde tossed five innings of two-run ball on five hits and a walk. He was charged with the loss while striking out three. Wilmington mustered just four singles and three walks, with Jack Dunn the sole batter to reach base multiple times with a safety and two bases on balls.

In the nightcap, Wilmington remembered the offense’s role with a four-run 3rd and two-spot in the 6th as they held on for 7-5 win over Hudson Valley to split the doubleheader and get back to .500. Joan Adon went the requisite five for the “W” but wasn’t terribly effective: four runs, six hits, and two walks over five innings. But it was good enough for him to win for the first time in 2021. Malvin Peña worked around a walk in the 6th for his first hold while Reid Schaller coughed up a homer in the 7th without losing the lead for the rulebook save, his second of the season. In another “reverse curse,” Yasel Antuna homered for the fourth time, driving in three while backup backstop Andrew Pratt hit his first big fly for two-run shot that proved to be the difference.
