All Quiet on the Minor-League Front

No, we haven’t gone dark… there’s just not much going on right now.

Like some of you have noted in the comments, there’s the wondering how the Nats farm will be tilled to fulfill the proposed trade for Brandon Phillips. If you want some amusement, take a look at the philistine commenting about the delay being about DC. Thankfully, he or she is getting piled on like the plates at a holiday buffet.

The hope here is that the trade will have a domino effect and will start the process of signing minor-league free agents, which has been noticeably slower this year, Bill “The Rocket” Ladson’s story this week notwithstanding. (Thanks for “ruining” the next BA post on transactions, Bill 😉

With that I return you to you families and/or loved ones on what retailers refer to as “Super Saturday.”

    He wanted an extension. Dream on!

    1. Not sure if it was an extension – I heard that he wanted some deferred money accelerated. Either way, that’s the Reds’ problem, not Rizzo’s.

    Horn . Unless Webb grabs a first base mitt.

  4. Nice to see Laffey back. Syracuse fans will rejoice the rturn of a guy from the glory year of ’14. Good move by a franchise that screwed the Chiefs in their playoff run in ’14.

    Still hoping Martinson gets another chance to finally break through. Difo there, too, or in AA with fast bump if he shows the eye. Unless Bostick gets pushed ahead. Martinson-Bostick-Difo-Skole IF? Or start both Difo and Bostick in AA, given the talent gap in middle IF there? Norfolk gets bump but OG all the way.

    Smart limit setting on the Phillips report. But I would not hear the deal as dead and still wonder whether Chapman is a part of it and the leaks are part of the decoy.

    Ballou/Goodwin/Ramsey/recent ML pickup look like the AAA OF to me. Can’t see Corona on HBurg latitude. 😉 Cutter a MLFA and long gone, no? Perez a faded star.

      1. I’d rather have the draft pick than any of the players left tied to compensation.

        If Boras starts to get desperate, he’ll tell the Lerners what to do and we’ll have another overpaid player on our hands, minus the draft pick.

  5. The ‘Onion’ has returned.
    The Nats just signed Jhonaton Solano, I’m sure for depth in Syracuse. He didn’t hit a lick last year with Miami.
