Nice to see Norris throwing out another baserunner!
Went through the Winter League rosters to find all the Nats, normally this link ( http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/org.jsp?id=was ) is sufficient, but they always miss some names, like Yunesky Maya.
One startling fact, the Mexican Winter League has been decimated with hardly any ML owned prospects/players appearing. Can only attribute this to the drug violence. Benefitting from this is the Puerto Rican Winter League, which almost folded a few years ago.
Here’s the breakdown, Natstown South is the Leones del Ponce of Puerto Rico – Pat Listach managing Jeff Mandel, Pat McCoy, Hassan Pena, Cory VanAllen, Danny Espinosa, Chris Marrero.

If you watched Solis throw last Friday night, you would have seen a lefty sitting at 92-94 who went through the first 10 batters without a hit. The following were a bloop to center, a broken bat pop up that landed on the infield dirt, and a solid hit up the middle. To say he got “torched” for 4 runs could only be written by someone that wasn’t there. In four innings, opposing hitters only got decent wood on the ball one time. I think the kid looks really promising!
You’re absolutely right. We have a budget that similar to the number of Julliard grads on American Idol, so we have to rely on the box scores which twice read “singles on a sharp ground ball” but your point still remains. Bad verb choice on my part. Should have used “touched.” Mea culpa.
Here’s the rest of it:

VH – Thanks so much. I had noticed Perez in doing research for the Hagerstown season review and did a quick scan/save via FirstInning.com for a future post on the Winter Leagues, but this is still useful for everyone else to see.
WOW, Sue & VH, what a wealth of information! Thanks.
It’s only 6 games, but Norris is putting up Little League numbers.
Sue, you know him well, why isn’t Peacock starting? He looks great so far.
If Eury Perez can hold his own against much more accomplished players, that would be a huge step for him.
In a nod to Brian Oliver, go Josh Wilkie!!
After starting all year, I’m surprised the Nats are letting Arnesen pitch this winter.
Sue, what do you think?
Mark – I don’t think there’s all that much to read into Peacock not starting. It’s pretty obvious that they’re looking to evaluate RHRP options with Kimball and Carr, which may also be why they’re willing to let Arnesen & Wilkie pitch in the winter leagues.
Hi Sue. Is that a typo or has Solis really given up 5 HR’s?
Typo – nice catch. I missed the “Hit” column.
No problem….but unfortunately, it still can’t hide his terrible numbers – yikes! I guess he’s still got a lot of rust left to shake off.
