DJ Herz was lit up for six runs on seven hits in the space of 14 batters in a 7-4 Rochester loss to Syracuse. Herz gave up three solo HRs, walked none, and struck out one (1) while throwing 50 pitches, 32 for strikes. All four Red Wings runs came via the longball with Cayden Wallace and Liover Peguero going solo and Phillip Glasser hitting a two-run shot. Rochester tallied eight hits total and struck out 13 times. The Senators scored all four runs through the air but only one ball left the yard as they bent the Curve, 4-3. Jarlin “Oh” Susana gave up all three Altoona runs on four hits with no walks and six strikeouts over two and 2/3rds innings. Four relievers combined for six and a 1/3rd scoreless innings, with Jhancarlos Lara picking up the win and Robert Cranz earning the save despite an error and two balls getting past Chad “Kānana” Lomavita in the 9th. Branden Boissiere, Kevin Made, and Devin Fitz-Gerald each had a sacrifice fly while Boissiere hit his 9th AA homer (12th overall) to power the Harrisburg offense. Roster moves: SS Kevin Made reassigned from Fredericksburg.

Wilmington dominated Hudson Valley for six runs on eight hits before the rain gave the Renegades bullpen the night off for 6-0 win in five innings. Austin Amaral opened the game with four outs, three K’s, and three walks. Bryan Polanco went the next three and 2/3rds to earn his 8th win, though he gave up two hits, walked three, balked one, hit a batter, and struck out four. Jacob Walsh singled in two and hit a two-run HR (#19) while Ronny Cruz reached base three times on a walk, single, and double, and stole four bases to lead the Blue Rocks offense. Roster moves: RHP Erick Mejia assigned from Harrisburg for MiLB Rehab.

The FredNats came out firing and strafed the Warbirds nine runs in their first four “ups” as they took the series opener, 11-3. Juan Reyes went the first innings and gave up a solo HR and a single with no walks and two whiffs. Richard Lovelady “worked on some things” and was credited with a “W” despite serving up a home run in one (1) inning pitched. Avery Ortiz singled twice, homered twice, drove in three and stole a base while Juan Cruz, Hunter Hines, and Elian Soto also went deep to power the Fredericksburg offense. Roster moves: LHP Richard Lovelady assigned from Washington for MLB Rehab.
I’ve seen most of the Senators games either live or on the MILB app. Lomavita has a real problem stopping balls in the dirt.

I know I’m probably not like most Nats fans, but I get infinitely more joy out of watching “our guys” play at the big league level than some waiver wire pick ups or adds on to insignificant trades.
Seeing Morales absolutely boss around the Braves’ pitching staff was just so enjoyable. So has watching Tolman succeed against all odds (and Simpson too for that matter).
I wish we’d get to see more of that, rather than wasting 40 man roster spots on – and this is putting it very charitably for many of them – AAAA fodder.
So happy for Morales. It’s just one game, and it seems like the Braves weirdly didn’t have the scouting report on him yet. But 3 for 5 with a HR in your debut is the stuff of dreams. Keep proving people wrong, Yoyo!

I agree with you. I don’t watch as many Nats games as I once did, but it was nice seeing the majority of the lineup being guys I saw play and met on City Island.
I know – I think I actually laughed out loud when he put that 82 mph splitter over the fence.
Doesn’t Atlanta know they just have to throw him 95 down the middle?
(Or not – we’ll see what actually happens. But if, after 200 PAs in the majors, his production is pretty good AND he’s still not able to handle 93+ AND teams still insist on throwing him a typical mix of pitches despite that fact, well, I will be super confused.)
I was just wondering what the timeline was on Mejia’s injury. So good to see him back, as he was making a strong case to be one of the next promotions. I sincerely hope he gets a shot this year, as he’s both an impending free agent, and his story is just too good. At 30 to reinvent himself as a pitcher, then rocket up to AAA in that same first season is just so insane. And he’s been doing that while touching 99 MPH!! It’s too good to believe. And while he’s not one of “our guys”, I have infinite time for a story like his.
went back and watched Herz from 2024 and his stuff last night was not close to what he was throwing then. hopefully he can regain it by springtime.
Law did a scouting report on a few Nats. thinks Harmon “may” be the best pitching prospect. Susana still missing a third pitch but the two he’s got are “wow”.
Maybe Heryz should wear Tolmsns technology on his arm or Copper cooper magnets that Allen Iverson wore years ago
Wow, Jacob Walsh continues to rake at Wilmington.
He is a little old for the A+ Sally League, but 19 HRs in 64 games in pitcher-friendly Wilmington is astonishing. Walsh is pretty much exclusively a 1B (did play a little LF for F’Burg), and the Nats are suddenly very deep in the organization at that spot, but Walsh had a .949 OPS in July, and then said “that’s nothing” and had a ridiculous 1.079 OPS in August, and then… starts off September with going 2 for 2 with a HR.. Someone posted yesterday about the possibility of moving all of the 1st up a rung with Yoyo’s promotion to DC. Hope so, even if it just means giving Walsh another week to rake.
Could Walsh be a candidate for the AZ Fall League?
