The Red Wings got four baserunners into scoring position and scored just once on a sac fly double play to end the 6th as the Bisons prevailed, 3-1. Luis Perales gave up a two runs on two hits (one HR) and walked five in his fifth loss. Kyle Nicolas gave up the third Buffalo run to lower his ERA as a Red Wing to 10.13. Leandro Pineda singled twice while Brady House doubled and hit the aforementioned sac fly to power Rochesters four-hit, four-walk, 14-K offense.

Josh Randall gave up all six runs over the first four innings on three homers. The ‘pen combined for five scoreless innings but the offense could onlu get five runs back, leaving the bases loaded in the 9th for a 6-5 loss. Randall gave up six hits, walked two, and struck out six in hisfourth AA loss. Johnathon Thomas singled, homered, scored twice, and stole a base while Branden Boissiere reached base four times on two walks, a double, and got plunked – one of four hit batsmen, including two in the 9th.

The Blue Rocks blew leads of 3-0 and 4-3 and fell one run short, 6-5. Yeuris Jimenez opened the game with two scoreless before giving way to Grant Manning, who was strafed for eight hits (one HR) in three-plus innings. Eiker Huizi got his second blown-save-loss of the series as he let in two of three inherited runns and three runs of his own in an inning and a 1/3rd. Yeremy Cabrera singled three times and stole two bases while Nate Rombacj reached three times on two singles and a walk to lead the Wilmington offense.

The reversion to the mean continued for the DSL Nationals with a 4-0 shutout loss to DSL Blue Jays Red. Enmanuel Carela took the loss, his fourth in seven starts, with the first three D-Jays Red runs let in on two hits and a walk. He struck out two. Jonierbis Garces singled and stole bases while Samil Serrano extended his hit streak to five games with a single.

Nats Acquire LHP Connelly Early for IF Curtis Mead

While a major-leaguer for major-leaguer trade might not have a strong prospect angle—former prospect Brady House is expected to be called up to replace Mead on the 26-man roster—the ripple effect is why this is newsworthy.

In the short term, this probably means more playing time for Cayden Wallace, who has not been playing regularly despite the injury to Yoyo Morales. In the longer term, this may prove beneficial to both Wallace and Seaver King, should the Nationals trade more of their infielders before next Monday’s trade deadline… or if House proves yet again that his first name is spelled BrAAAAdy.
