Rochester scored in each of its last three “ups” in regulation to take a 5-3 lead, but blew it in the 9th and then again in the 10th for a 6-5 loss to Worcester. Andry Lara started and threw 49 pitches before giving way to the parade of relievers. He allowed one run on three hits and a walk over three amd 2/3rds. Luke Young gave up two in the 9th for the blown save, his second, while Jack Sinclair let in the free runner in the 10th to take the loss. Christian “Hey It’s” Franklin led the Red Wing hit column with three singles, followed by Riley Adams with a single and a homer, and Cayden Wallace with a single and a walk. Rochester left on ten but the loss is on the bullpen. Roster moves: LHP Erik Tolman activated from Development List; RHP Cole Henry placed on the 7-Day I.L., effective 7/11 (remember kids, the Red Wings don’t play again until Friday the 17th so there’s a 99 44/100% chance Henry is not actually hurt).

• Shuman 2⅓ IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 0K

The Senators took advantage of a poorly played infield single in the top of the 9th to tie the game at 2-2 but lost in extras, 3-2. Alex Clemmey spun five innings of two-run ball on three hits and three walks while striking out four. Thomas Schultz took the loss with a one hit and two outs in the 10th. Max Romero Jr. reached base three times on a single and a pair of walks while Devin Fitz-Gerald got on twice with a safety and a base-on-balls. Levis Huesman picked up the win with two and a 1/3rd scoreless innings with one hit, one walk, and two whiffs. Jordan Williams and Elian Soto both homered and combined for five hits and five RBI while Luke Dickerson doubled and Hunter Hines tripled to lead the FredNats attack.
FCL Nationals, 24-23, 2nd FCL East, 12GB
The F-Nats lost three of five games completed or played and can be eliminated as soon as today. Look for all the remaining doubleheaders to be canceled as they were this past Friday and Saturday, which will reduce the number of times the Nats can take a look at the shipload of FA pitchers they’ve signed this year.
DSL Nationals, 6-22, 7th DSL South, 15GB
The DSL Nationals remain a 1/2 game ahead of the DSL Padres Brown for the worst record after another one-win week. This week it’s a home game today, road games on Tuesday, Thursday, and off days Wednesday and Saturday. The DSL All-Star game will be on Sunday, July 19.
Now we await any UDFA signees

So, 165 is the domestic limit of players. I try to keep track of the running totals per team and for the system via XLS macros on the Big Board. As of this writing i have us at 161.
However, that 161 figure includes 40-man guys who are in the minors, who don’t count against that limit (11 guys in AAA on the 40-man right now), so we have exactly 150 active players in domestic minors. We just drafted 20 guys, we’re probably going to sign 18 of them (i havn’t done the in-depth analysis on signability but that’s about what we’ve been getting lately in a 20 round draft), which would put us at 168, meaning we’d have to shed 3 guys.
Now, players on 60 day/full season IL don’t count, nor do restricted list guys. So, it would probably be very easy to move 3 guys to one of these two lists. Just today Tolman for example moved off of the Developmental list where he’d been sitting for weeks. Hayes in AAA has spent most of the season on that list. There’s 3 catchers on the High-A roster; one of them can go on the dev list. And, there’s 8 guys on the 7-day DL in Low-A, some of whom who have been there since Mid April, so it seems that making space by moving guys to 60-day will be pretty easy.
TL/DR: don’t expect a ton of releases to accompany the 2026 draft signings.

Catch your breath after that explanation

At some point, it would be interesting to see someone’s post on the FCL and the DSL. I don’t care how the teams are doing, just if any players stand out worthy of attention?
Reading stat lines (I’d be amazed if ANYONE was watching the DSL Nats play besides the coaches themselves. And looking at the DSL Nats’ play, maybe even the coaches aren’t watching…), there’s a couple interesting players on an otherwise terrible team.
Bats:
Juan Duran – THE standout from this team. He got a 7 figure signing bonus, so he’s got the pedigree, and at age 16, he’s young for an already young league. He’s batting an insane .408/.494/.566 at the moment with as many Ks as BBs (9), while playing mostly 1B. All together, that’s good for a 160 wRC+ (18th best among some 350 players in the DSL) and his .408 AVG is 2nd best.
Samil Serrano – another bonus baby, has flashed solid power, putting up a slightly above average slash of .278/.389/.481
Isais Suarez – another 7 figure bonus baby – has feasted on the wildness of DSL arms (27 BB% – I wouldn’t read too much into that, since DSL pitchers have generally been awful), but he’s shown good power and an ability to hit for AVG. An overall line of .271/.470/.458.
Arms:
The list begins and ends with Maximin Medina. He was recently promoted to the FCL, and promptly got roughed up. But he sported a 0.96 ERA through 18 IP, and he was uncharacteristically in control of his pitches, walking only 2.4 batters per 9 IP (think league average is around 7.5!).
On the FCL side, there’s very little to write about. Like two thirds of the pitching staff consists of 24+ year olds who are half a decade older than most players there, and these guys are STILL looking outmatched. I’m not sure there’s a single age-appropriate pitcher to highlight even those 43 different arms have appeared so far. Maybe a mild shout out to Juan Reyes, who has a 3.95 ERA, striking out more than a batter per inning and is “only” 21 (still above league average).
Among the bats, there’s a bit more talent:
Browm Martinez – acquired for Amed Rosario last year – has been good, hitting .295/.451/.474, 139 wRC+, and is only 19.
Elian Soto (Juan’s little brother) came out of nowhere and put up a 151 wRC+, earned a promotion to Fredericksburg, where he’s continued to play surprisingly well (124 wRC+).
Carlos Taveras, Marconi German, Nauris de la Cruz, and Victor Hurtado have all been solid, but unexceptional, but deserving attention after previous good performance, or in Hurtado’s case, a big signing bonus.
Could it be that the front office had some sort of sense of timing as to when it would be best to sneak Robert Hassell through? It remains curious why they would pick him to DFA over a couple others. I’m glad he is staying in the system, even though his stock has fallen.
Scratch Billy Sullivan off the list of 165 , Todd
