Alex Clemmey came within one out of finishing six full innings for the second time this season. Chance Huff came on with nobody on base and two outs. Riley Maddox took the brunt of the beating, giving up six runs on seven hits (one HR) and two walks. He struck out eight, a career high. Bryce Montes de Oca rehabbed in the 1st inning and gave up a run, one hit, one walk, and struck out one. That became a win when the FCL Nationals scored twice on a pair of infield singles, a walk, and an error. Colby Frieda struck out the first two batters he faced then gave up back-to-back singles to let in the free runner and a walk to load the bases. Man, Fitz-Gerald is the real deal; does it all. Hits for power (10 HR plus 12 other XBH), is fast (11 for 12 at SB), hits for average (.321), has a great eye (nearly as many walks, 23, as Ks, 25) plays good and versatile defense (played significant time at all three of 2b, 3b and SS), and is doing it all at age 20 in A+.

If Yeremy Cabrera and Fitz-Gerald are half as good as they’ve looked so far, that Gore trade is going to go down with the Soto trade, as an all timer.
