Starting pitcher Andry Lara was torched for four runs on five hits (two HR) and a walk over two innings. Jackson Rutledge was the lone reliever who understood the assignment, working a 1-2-3 seventh on eight pitches. Zach Short homered and singled to be the only Rochester batter to notch multiple hits while Christian “Hey It’s” Franklin was the only Red Wings hitter to not strike out.
Harrisburg – OFF DAY
Harrisburg swept Altoona on the road and sits atop the E.L. Southwest at 3-0, tied with Akron. Fittingly, the RubberDucks come to City Isle this week for six games.
Wilmington vs. Jersey Shore – PPD
They pulled the plug on this one less than an hour after the 1:05pm first pitch. They’ll shoot to make it up with a doubleheader on Wednesday, May 20 during the second series between the Blue Rocks and the BlueClaws in Wilmington in 2026.

Fredericksburg sent 13 men to the plate in 4th and had seven of them come around to score to take a 9-2 lead. The bullpen did what it could to let Augusta back into the game, giving up six runs across two innings. Bryant Olson LaLooshed his way through six batters (2BB, 3K) in the 7th and 8th and Jacob Roberts struck out the side in the 9th to get his second save as the FredNats won, 10-8. Fredericksburg racked up 10 hits, seven walks, and six stolen bases with 20th Rd. pick Juan Cruz leading the way with a single, double, and three RBI, followed by Nick “Power to the” Peoples with a single and a triple and one RBI.
Sime looks like the real deal.
Juan Cruz is another to keep an eye on. He displayed some real power and hit tool in the relatively weak SWAC, but I’ll be interested to see how that translates to A ball.
Such a combination of pitching gems and stickers, often in the same game, both here in the minors and the majors… we have some quality rotation pieces but the bullpen seems to remain a systemic problem in this org.
+1 on Sime. That fastball will play with even fringy command (and, so far he’s clearing that bar with ease).
Great in the breakout game. Great in his debut. Early doors, of course, but I’m getting pretty hyped on him.
Hey all – just wanted to take an opportunity to thank Luke especially but also the commenters for this site. You provide a tremendous amount of interesting and valuable information and I really enjoy the gentle snark in many of the posts – brings a smile to my face most mornings. With what Toboni has done, my interest in the organization is much more the minors these days and this is my #1 source for it, although I have always been much more lurker than participant (always meaning I still remember the original Sue Dinem days ).
But in today’s info crazy world, thanks and acknowledgements are rarely shared enough, so I wanted to pause and express my gratitude and appreciation for what you do. Thank you!
Well said! I echo “more lurker than participant” and remember the “Sue Dinem” moniker! :):):):)
don’t be strangers!
Was Luke the originator of the Stanspeaktranslator? (Back when the best new thing the Nats had to offer was “brisket”)
Sorry. That wasn’t me. Though I’ve worked with a lot
bullshit artistsPR types back in the day…Luke Johnson line: 3ip, 7 hits, 2 walks, 5 earned runs allowed … and a Win.
Ribalta being pulled for a position player with 2 outs and one on is worrisome. hope he’s not hurt, he’s had a good start to the season.
