What looks like the opening day roster is I think here:
https://www.milb.com/rochester/roster
Saw that too but it appears to have 29 active players on it. So maybe 1 person is on the IL but it is not shown here.
Can someone explain the development list to me? I see 2 on roster listed that for their status.
In theory, it’s when a guy is removed from the roster but is not hurt. It’s 7-day minimum, but can be applied retroactively. It’s supposed to be a signal that there’s no injury. This is contrast to the I.L., which is supposed to be used to park guys with injuries.
The I.L. used to be called the 7-Day D.L. when the NAPBL was runing the minor leagues. It was renamed the I.L. when MLB took over MiLB. Before the change, teams used to play games all the time with the 7-day D.L. and the 3-day T.I.L. before the roster rules were changed to allow for more players per roster but a limit as to how many are active.
What we’ve noticed is that most of the guys placed on the Development List are OG’s (organizational guys), not prospects. So there is still a little lingering gamesmanship.

We used to call it the taxi squad in a previous generation .
