Nats Blank Yanks, 3-0
Five Nats pitchers combined to shut out the Yankees, 3-0 on three hits on Saturday night.
Josiah Gray went the first three, allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts. He threw 32 pitches, 20 for strikes.
Ken Waldichuk matched Gray’s line but needed nine more pitches. He was credited with the win.
Five watchlist players came off the bench:
- Seaver King replaced C.J. Abrams at SS and drew a two-out walk in the 7th.
- Christian “Hey It’s” Franklin subbed for Daylen Lile in RF and lined out to end the 7th.
- Yoyo Morales spelled Luis García at 1B and flew out to make the first out in the 8th.
- Gavin Fien pinch-hit for Andrés Chaparro and grounded out to end the 8th.
- Orelvis Martinez replaced José Tena at 2B in the 7th but did not come to bat.
The Nats (7-4-3) remain in West Palm Beach to host the Astros (4-7-3) this afternoon. Andrew Alvarez is expected to make the start. The game can be heard locally on WJFK (106.7 FM).
