Happy Thanksgiving!
Here we go again. 2025 is now in the rearview mirror, 2026 is on the horizon.
In terms of the Nats’ minors, it’s still too soon to know if, when, or how the new management will change things. The early signs are that the status quo will be maintained until substantive changes can be implemented.
But as is often the case in our little niche, the sample sizes are small. It probably doesn’t help that much of the Natmosphere is still in the honeymoon phase, focusing the novelty and glossing over how much of what’s been said is like this scene in Bull Durham.
Even if 2026 turns out to be a(nother) bridge year, it’s okay to hope for the better while not being surprised if things don’t. This site began at similar crossroads (a 1/1 pick in the fold, and a last-place team in the majors), so it is possible…
I’ll sign off here and issue my usual reminders for a Happy Thanksgiving:
🍗 Stay safe
🍗 Show some plate discipline
🍗 Call your mother
I am thankful for baseball, this site and the things I learn from the folks who gather here.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Happy Thanksgiving, one and all! I am grateful for baseball and sites like this one as an occasional oasis from the mishegoss that surrounds us.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Part of plate discipline is knowing when to take a walk, but I guess it’s a little late for that.
If you want to tear yourself away for a little baseball in this football weekend, go to YouTube and search for Driveline baseball. About the 5th video result you’ll see a Nats jersey – its Jacob Young going to Driveline to work on his hitting. Interesting video, going thru drills and gauging results. FYI – in one of the prior videos, the new Nats Ass’t Hitting Coach is working with a Old Miss hitter, didn’t get as many coaching tips in his videos as JY’s. In JY’s, it was done 2 weeks ago, so he’ll likely go there for a pre-Spring session and with Aydt there, get continual feedback and tips in Spring Training as well. Here’s the link
