AFL Update: Oct. 9, 2025
Led the Nationals’ Seaver King, the Scorpions paddled the Rafters, 8-2 last night in Scottsdale.
King (pictured from Monday night) drove in five with a two-run single in the 7th and an Earl Weaver Special in the 8th that capped off the night for Scottsdale. He also had a double while playing shortstop for the game with two assists.
Ethan Petry joined King in the starting lineup and singled once in five trips to the plate. He manned right field and had one putout.
Pablo Aldonis was the opener and gave up a solo homer while walking none and striking out five over two innings.
Scottsdale hits the road for Glendale this afternoon to take on the Desert Dogs.
ICYMI, Mr. Boss has made some changes to his invaluable tracking data, which are linked in the sidebar. I applaud his transparency, which is markedly different than the current regierung’s approach to data.
Likewise, though the odds are greater you did see this, the Nats’ new Baseball Ops President Paul Toboni shed three longtime executives, including Eddie Longosz after two (abysmal) years as AGM and President of Player Development.
Finally, two more pics from Jerry from Monday night…

This is the Seaver King we thought we drafted. Keep it up, kid! Millas and Hassell both rode AZ improvements into the next season, so let’s have another of those.
I think you confused Petry (1-5) with Plaz (4-5)
Seems that some that post here are invested in criticizing picking King, barely more than a year ago. The kid has talent. Give him a chance to mature.
