Worcester 3 Rochester 1
• Sampson (L, 5-5) 5IP, 8H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 3K
• Powell 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Glasser 2-3, R, BB
• F. Mejía 2-4, 2B
Worcester got two in the 2nd and one in the 5th and almost shut out Rochester, 3-1. Adrian Sampson allowed all three (ugh) Woo Sox runs on eight hits and two walks to lose for the fifth time in ’25. He struck out three. Garrett Davila, Andry Lara, and Holden Powell each put up a goose egg. Unfortunately, so did the Red Wings batters for eight innings until Phillip Glasser, Juan Yepez, and Jackson Cluff loaded the bases on singles. Darren Baker broke up the shutout with a fourth single that kept the bases loaded but José Tena struck out and Yoyo Morales popped out to end the game. Roster moves: RHP Orlando Ribalta optioned from Washington; RHP Sauryn Lao recalled to Washington.
regardless of what you think of Glasser’s prospect status you’ve got to give it to him for continuing to get on base.
looks like Sampson will have to suck it up and go get’em again tonight. maybe Riley C can help him out. (it’s a long season, no worries)
In his 8 AAA games, Glasser has 12 hits plus 3 walks: .400/.455/.567. He’ll be 26 by the time he receives his NRI to Spring Training with the big club but isn’t Rule 5-eligible until 2026.
This hot streak in Rochester isn’t even the best stint of his career.

Will he struggle in the majors? Probably? But we’ve also basically never seen Glasser struggle in his career, besides 3 bad weeks in AA last season.
But I don’t see a scenario in which he unseats Wood in LF.
I don’t think Wood’s spot is threatened by Glasser … its probably Garcia’s. Glasser played SS in college and so far in his pro career has games at 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, and RF.
the Nats love positional flexibility, and a guy like Glasser who can plug in at 6 spots would be super useful on teh MLB roster. And, if he can post an OBP > .300 … he’ll have Garcia beat.
It’s interesting to note that Garcia is actually six months younger than Glasser. Garcia has been providing bad defense and empty calories on offense for the big club for six seasons now. It’s some kind of weird talent for him to have played 132 games this season and generated only 0.3 bWAR.
interesting and significant
For the non-AAA or MLB players, do the Nats have an active program right now going on at their Florida facility or is everyone that isn’t playing on their own right now?
Specifically are the Nats AZ Fall League guys and their top prospects currently working on their game in West Palm now?
The “Instructional League” generally runs from mid-September to mid-October. There’s rarely any real reporting on it, just a few rumors. The most notorious one was that Antuna was added to the 40-man in part because he was “hitting bombs” in Instrux games. He subsequently continued to bomb in a very different way . . .
More importantly, could Glasser be traded for pitching ?
