In a battle of the bullpens, Rochester’s was the least ineffective in an 8-7 win over Worcester in 10 innings. Josiah Gray began the parade of pitchers as the Red Wings remain in spring-training mode. The MLB rehab got eight outs—two by way of the K—and walked three without giving up a hit or a run. After Darren Baker drove in one and Phillip Glasser plated two in the top of the 9th to take a 7-4 lead, Holden Powell gave up two hits while getting the first two outs of the bottom of the 9th. Julian Fernández allowed a two-run double followed by an RBI single to blow the lead then got a strikeout two batters too late to end the frame.
In the 10th, Nick Schnell and Jackson Cluff drew walks on both sides of a Trey Lipscomb popup to set up Juan Yepez to get a sac fly and take the lead. Ryan Loutos retired the side in order in bottom half to pick up the win. Lipscomb singled and hit a two-run HR while José Tena had two safeties and stole his 20th base to lead the Rochester offense. Roster moves: OF Christian Franklin activated from the 7-Day I.L.; RHP Kyle Luckham placed on the 7-Day I.L.
Good that Franklin returns to get some more reps
The home team probably advises the mascots to hide when Fernandez comes in to pitch

What year of this rebuild will be reset when the new PD staff gets hired , fleshed out and stream lined ?
Is it just me or does Alfaro call a different game with his pitchers and has more effective back stop skills than Ruiz and others ?
It’s hard to tell pitch calling. By most metrics he’s just a guy (0 for the season by both DRS and OAA, and 0.0 in framing runs). If anything, he’s slightly down in his brief stay with the Nats (-1 by both DRS and OAA, -0.1 in framing).
Of course, between Ruiz, Adams, and even Millas “just a guy” can look mighty good defensively.
Of course, he’s “just a guy” defensively who doesn’t hit much if at all. And this is who he’s been for years now, and at age 32 it’s probably all there is. A stopgap for a bad team, but not the answer.
Lomavita played 81 games at catcher while Bazzell played 76:
Lomavita: 21 E, 8 PB, 25% CS
Bazzell: 8 E, 9 PB, 40% CS
However:
Lomavita: .275/.340/.374
Bazzell: .239/.340/.267
Immediate help does not appear to be on the horizon, particularly defensively.
Catching upgrade in free agency under new PD team
Developmental list is the taxi squad with a note saying : Ty for your contributions to the organization . Good luck in the future .

Never was on DL this season with his 138 IP logged as we see Luckham shut down for season at 134 IP logged.???
There’s just two games left in the season and Luckham already had a start in this series. Seems very logical to “shut him down” since he wouldn’t pitch again anyway.
